Interview with Alice Kent
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I’m especially proud of a gig I did in 2018 with Quincy Jones in Paris. Some of his best tunes-arranged and conducted by Jules Buckley another fabulous musician. Quincy’s music is awesome but to have him there enjoying it and supporting the musicians whilst presenting the concert was pretty incredible.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I’d take my bass it’s a beautiful old English instrument, anything else is a bonus!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on symphonic, film or big string section work. Bringing smooth basslines to add something extra.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio is awesome! I have a Coles mic and an AKG 414 which record the sound of the bass really beautifully. I also use Logic to collect the tracks.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mostly play smooth basslines for orchestral music and string sections and backing tracks.
