Award winning Emmy And Juno Recipient for Sound Production. Live vocals, lead rhythm guitar, EMI recording artist. Published song writing credits.
I’ve had a long career in the music industry. Starting in 1955 while in the Royal Navy. My first professional gig was at the Savoy in Portsmouth. Hired as the regular warm-up act for the travelling bands. Many big-name bands starting out like The Kinks, The Hollies, The Who and the like. From there I joined a band called Les Continentals, which became Gullivers people. Starting in 1965 we were the resident band at Tiffany’s night club in Piccadilly Circus working for the Mecca corporation. We were then signed by EMI and A&R Norman Hurricane Smith, who was our sound engineer and my first mentor in the recording studio. Gullivers People recorded at EMI Studios now known as Abbey Road, from 65 to 69 with bands such as The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and The Hollies. As aprofessional recording artist, and session musician in London, I pursued the production side of music more frequently and eventually moved into the recording studio. Working with John Gale at Studio G, my first apprentice gig was recording with Monty Python for their first studio Album.
Emigrating to Canada in 1973 to teach sound production at the newly constructed Capilano College, and was also instrumental in designing the studio for Vancouvers co-op radio. Moving on to location sound recording with over 70 Credits on IMDb and multiple awards for sound recording.
Performed in With ‘Sonic Elder’ in 2017 and 2018.
