Metjoeww on SoundBetter

Hey guys. My name is Matthew and I'm releasing music under the name of 'Metjoeww'. (Dutch pronounciation of my English name) I'm very passionate about music and love to take on a new challenge. In general I love ballads and rock, but I do not want to limit myself. I'm available in Dutch, French, English and Spanish. Love doing vocals/lyrics

Love turning a song into a story.
Hit me up with your theme and thoughts - I'll add some male Belgian vocals on it in order to make it pop out the way you want.

I write/sing in Dutch, English, French and Spanish ;-)

Have been taking piano and singing lessons for over five years now.
Let's talk and create. I'm dying to make some beautiful stuff for you guys.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Interview with Metjoeww

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: 'Untold Story', my own piano piece. It felt like it missed something, my vocals just didn't do the trick and then I took a leap of faith and contacted the one and only Dave Eggar, who then wrote this beautiful cello arrangement on it.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Classified information, but you'll learn about it soon.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: No, unfortunately no.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Analog is preferred but hey. Digitial is okay. I work with both.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: Always give your best. If the deadline is too tight, COMMUNICATION is key. If there's a problem, TALK. Speak. Honesty. Don't make promises you can't keep.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: The creation. There is no better feeling than making something out of nothing and looking at it and thinking 'Well, a few hours ago, the world did not know about you...'

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: 'Can you fix this in a few hours?' 'Depends. Did u send me the song already?'

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: I have a full tenor range (up 'til Bb-C), but that does not mean I have to use it at all time.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: 'Hey, how is life over there?'

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Don't hesitate to ask me directly what you want. The faster we get on the same page, the better we will be writing the story you want it to be.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: piano mic headset violin and an ukelele just to play with when I'm out of inspiration

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I've been playing piano and taking singing lessons for over six years now. As of October 2020 I started releasing my own music and started to take steps towards collabs.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Symfonical rock with a weak spot for crying ballads.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Amy Lee. Cause she has shown me there is no shame or fear in paving your own path.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: A magician does not ever reveal his tricks.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I love piano music in combination with strings and vocals. That just hits me every time.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I love harmony and arranging around an arrangement.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Charisma, multiple language, interpretation, emotion and if asked, raspiness, huskiness.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: Depending on the song and request, I just work out several ideas. I pitch it to the seller and then the seller sends me into the direction he wants the song to end up in.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: Yamaha studio - electric piano Manley mic Garageband

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I look up to artists such as Amy Lee, Lzzy Hale, ... who own the rock stage when they rock on but are open to other worlds such as those of Bring Me The Horizon, as well as Lindsey Stirling who has a captivating way of showing what it its to be classically trained in a modern world. I love artists that colour beside the lines. Dave Eggar is also a big inspiration to me: he has shown that music is just a language that can be spoken in all genres, all tempos, all levels, ...

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Write lyrics and do (demo) vocals or a feature on the song
