Artist/ songwriter previously signed to Warner Music Australia. I've been writing & performing for over 8 years now with multiple songs on commercial radio rotation in Australia & New Zealand. I've worked alongside artists in the past including Ed Sheeran, Kelly Rowland & Sons of Zion, with millions of streams on my work globally.

I have had the privilege of working alongside and in the same room as Zeek and he is incredible at what he does. But more so is the most humble guy out there. RECOMMEND

Interview with ZEEK POWER

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: My next upcoming single, plus a bunch of other projects for some other artists. I've also just signed a distribution deal with The Orchard which is exciting!

  3. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  4. A: Bring your best material. If you have even a general idea for the direction you want the song to go in, it'll help me turn around the best product I can for you!

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Zachary Staines and Clayton Francis! Both freaks of nature when it comes to music plus they're both all around awesome guys!

  7. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  8. A: A big misconception about this stuff is that there's a 10 step 'How-To' on writing and top-lining but there's not. I find a lot of it really comes down to enjoying yourself, trusting your instincts and experimenting with new ideas constantly.

  9. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  10. A: How has your week been?

  11. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  12. A: 1 x fully operational S-92 Rescue Helicopter w/cigarette lighter capability 1 x healthy, certified helicopter pilot who speaks english and has fully operational limbs and senses 1 x cigarette lighter phone charger 1 x phone so I can call my wife and tell her I'm on my way home from that Island I got stuck on 1 x 2L bottle of water for the trip

  13. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  14. A: I started out on Youtube doing covers and then I signed to a major label and wrote a bunch of songs with a bunch of people. Amidst all that, I formed a band too and we played and toured both nationally and internationally. I've been doing music now for close to 10 years!

  15. Q: How would you describe your style?

  16. A: I try to create things that feel left of field but aren't too foreign that they can't be received universally. Basically, if Frank Ocean and Ryan Tedder were playing Smash Bros together, I'd be there serving drinks to them.

  17. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  18. A: Frank Ocean or Childish Gambino because I feel like both of them have voices that go beyond just the music. They reflect the times in their art, and that's what I wanna do

  19. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  20. A: Valhalla saves lives.

  21. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  22. A: Pop, R&B, Acoustic Pop, Indie, Alt Pop. I also like to write Pop...

  23. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  24. A: Melody and Lyric development

  25. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  26. A: When I'm working on a song, my aim is to bring a sense of nostalgic optimism through my writing. I aim to write melodies that will carry over into the next day for someone when they're driving in the car or doing the laundry.

  27. Q: What's your typical work process?

  28. A: I tend to lean into developing a melody first through throwing down a mumble track of just ideas and then fleshing out lyrics from there. If I'm writing with someone else on the track, there's definitely a ton of conversation happening beforehand too. I love to get to know the artist/ producer I'm working with.

  29. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  30. A: I'm currently using an Audio Technica AT4050 and a Scarlett 2i2 for my main writing and tracking at the moment.

  31. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  32. A: I'm hugely inspired by guys like Ryan Tedder & Jon Bellion - both hard working, acclaimed artists in their own rights but the work they do for other artists is so recognisable and dope that I'm inspired to do the same!

  33. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  34. A: I mostly top line for clients these days
