Interview with Arayl
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am currently working on my EP.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise that I will give my all and work hard to create your vision. I will be consistent, and make sure that you leave with a positive note. I will do whatever I can to make sure that I deliver.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is the goal you want to reach with this project? What are the feels? Do you have a particular topic you want to talk about? Which artists do you like or want to resemble?
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been doing this ever since I was a little girl. I believe I'm destined for this. Singing has been such a huge outlet for me throughout the years. Even when I was debating on stopping, music always found it's way back to me. I've trained professionally from grade school into high school. I've performed in competitions/ carnivals in the jersey area. I was in choirs and A Capella clubs. Music is truly in my heart, and I intend to make it my career.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Kehlani. I love how her music is such a vibe, but its also SO relatable. Plus, everything that she has written comes from real life experiences. I admire how she wears her heart on her sleeve and she shows that in her music.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rnb usually, but I like to be diverse. I was to dabble into Pop, Dancehall, Afrobeat, Reggae, and Jazz in the future.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Vocals, adapting and learning new things/ genres quickly, bgv's, etc.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring emotion to a song. Whether it be in your feels, confidence, or being sassy( like how I naturally am lol) when I record a song, you can feel the vibes. I don't want there to ever be a song that I do that you can feel the song internally.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I listen to the song to try and digest the feel of it. Then, I'll make a voice memo and mumble song seeds( ideas, in other words) that could possibly work. After I record it, I'll sit and see what the recording is trying to tell me. After I find that out, I come up with the topic, and the lyrics follow suit.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio is in my room. I have my MacBook Pro, my interface, my mics, and my mini recording booth. I utilized Logic Pro X to record my vocals.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Brandy, Destiny's Child, Kehlani, Summer Walker, Bryson Tiller, Chris Brown, PND, Usher, Chloe and Halle, Jhene Aiko, Normani
