Remote Mixing & Mastering

Iconica - Vegas on SoundBetter

Brand new, state-of-the-art full service recording and mastering studio. Analog/digital hybrid system, set up to add clarity and weight while maintaining space within the track and optimizing loudness while preserving dynamics..

Mixing & Mastering:

Low-key elegance, sophistication and restraint are the principles that guide our musical decisions. Our studio is the physical embodiment, and we’re committed to delivering these qualities in our work.

For us, it all starts with the room. We are approaching your mix inside our custom, acoustically tailored control room at Iconica - Vegas, hearing everything down to 15hz - ensuring frequencies are balanced very early in the process. From there, we’re routing selected sources to grab some texture and flavor from our analog equipment, and finally we’re ready to fine-tune a full, rich and professional sounding mix.

Special attention to detail on vocals. Many great mixes can suffer a ‘vibe-disconnect’ when certain vocal issues are left unchecked. That is why the following aspects of vocal editing are INCLUDED in our mix rate:

-Timing adjustments
-Micro and macro pitch correction
-Lead / backing vocal alignment

Mastering:

*We are timing our compressors and limiters based on the feel and tempo of the song, and recommended that you provide a mixdown with minimal or no limiting on the master buss.*

An Iconica Master means adding clarity, weight, tailored sonic imaging, and loudness to your mixdown

Interview with Iconica - Vegas

  1. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  2. A: We provide mastering services tailored to the vision of our clients.

  3. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  4. A: We prefer to work with brand new artists to share in the process of creating something novel and forward-reaching.

  5. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  6. A: When possible, avoid mixing your own music and avoid mastering your own mix.

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Indie Rock

  9. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  10. A: While our small group of engineers share important skill sets, knowledge and experience. The most valuable tool we posses is arguably taste in the sonics of music.

  11. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  12. A: To a song, we finish what the artist started with an objective ear. Not only do we bring the track up to competitive status in terms of loudness, we also compliment the original vision of the song. Our goal is quite simply to make the sonics of a song powerful and pleasurable for the listener.

  13. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  14. A: We run a hybrid system with a heavy reliance on analog equipment. We start with a vintage Trident console (a notoriously popular rock board, but also used on mixes like Madonna's "Like a Virgin"). Then we get into the more modern pieces, summing our console channels through our 8816 by Neve, adding weight and tightness to the low end, warming up the mids and preserving high end clarity. Finally, we add dynamic processing with the Neve Portico Master Bus Processor, a unit specifically designed for mastering - we love the spacial manipulation and the transparent yet powerful compressors - this adds texture and punch that is only possible outside the box.

  15. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  16. A: We are awed by the magic accomplished at Bernie Grundman Mastering, as well as the engineers as Sterling Sound. Our mixing hero is no doubt Bruce Swedien based on his creative and groundbreaking work as a recordist and engineer.
