Red Giraffe Recording on SoundBetter

We like to think of ourselves as your boutique option here on Soundbetter. Rather than churn out a quick production or mix, our approach is to provide you the best quality possible. Please be sure to check our Before & Afters in the "More Samples" section below to hear examples of demo-to-master, and mixing transformations.

Production: Indie Pop / Alt Rock is what we primarily specialize in. We want every song we work on to have as much of a unique sound as possible, and are always looking for new ways to marry raw, organic instrumentation with programming, synthetic sounds, and high-fidelity pop mixing. If you've got a demo/worktape for a song, and want to turn it into a high quality record give us a shout!

Mixing: To get your music placed on playlists for any streaming platform, having a great mix is a must these days! A listeners first perception of your song says so much about you as an artist, and we understand that more than most. If you are looking for a modern sounding, professional mix that can compete with mix engineers who charge over triple what we do then we can help.

At the end of the day whatever it is that you need, we can figure out how to help. Jimmy is a Grammy nominated recording engineer, and Paul is a multi-instrumentalist producer/ session player who shows up every day with a vision to make you sound the best you possibly can.

Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

Endorse Red Giraffe Recording
  1. Review by Keenan K.

Red Giraffe opened our eyes to an entirely different approach to recording. Not only did they push us with arrangements and song structure, but our growth with them actually began before the studio.

We wanted to create something fresh and hi-fi, however our influences are pulled from much older records. They challenged us to find exceptional production work and tones released within the last year, refining our palette.

With a clear end goal, they became the bridge between these vastly different styles, connecting the dots and unifying the sound, allowing us play off our strengths.

Every song that I’ve done has been produced, engineered, and taken up a notch by these guys!!! I not only trust them with seeing my vision but they also have helped me create a vision and path for a pure authentic direction musically to give my audience something different! Studio feels like home too! Red Giraffe is the spot!

Interview with Red Giraffe Recording

  1. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  2. A: You should message us if you are focused on quality, want to better define what your sound is, and want to be pushed to grow as an artist. If you're unsure if we're the right fit let's set up a zoom or phone call to see how we can help you!

  3. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  4. A: Our studio is a cozy 1000 sq ft space complete with a live room, iso room, and control room, vintage electric guitars, tube amps, acoustic guitars, basses, analog synthesizers, percussion, a Hammond B3 with Leslie 145, and an assortment of mics, guitar pedals, and our favorite outboard gear. We're big fans of tube/ribbon mics, and are always putting our vintage U67 or Beyer M160's on something. We're also into API, CAPI, and Neve mic pres. UAD plugins have been a recent endeavor for us too, and we're always checking out new VST's to see what new sounds we can find!

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: Vision and quality. We're not going to give you a stock sounding mix or production. We put love into every track in the arrangement and don't stop until we're proud of the final product. Most of our clients come to us because they love the flavor we put into their music. In order to get a better idea of what we mean by "flavor" be sure to listen to our Before & Afters in the More Samples section of our profile, or by copying and pasting the link to our Spotify playlist on our homepage.

  7. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  8. A: Full song production, additional production, and mixing. Full song production is a demo to final mix service. We mix 99% of the songs we produce, and consider mixing to be a big part of the flavor we bring to our productions. Additional production is usually code for "Please do anything you can to save this mix", and we do a lot of that! In fact, many of our clients that originally contacted us for mixing now prefer our full song production package. Lastly, mixing is our most affordable option if you are on a budget, and a great place to start if you are comfortable producing your own records.

  9. Q: What's your typical work process?

  10. A: Each gig starts with a zoom or phone call with the client to make sure we know exactly what they are looking for and how we can best help them. We ask that you send your demo or rough mix at least 24 hours in advance of this call in order for us to listen to your song and start getting our ideas together. We'll talk about song references, creative direction, and ask you some preliminary questions to make sure we're all on the same page about what you want your song to sound like. At this point, if it's a full song production we'll start cooking up drums and bass (if the song needs it) and get a general outline to send to you to make sure we're moving in the right direction. If we're mixing, this is where we would send a rough mix to you to for your approval to continue down that path. We structure our workflow this way to make sure even though we're working remotely, you're still a part of the process, and we're not just sending you one file at the end that becomes a surprise you're not happy with.
