Interview with Astro James
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I released my debut record "Paper Soldier" this summer, that was exciting!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am currently working on an electronic/pop record for a really talented singer/songwriter/performer in Boulder, Colorado named Mystic Quartz that I'm really stoked about.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Quirky, fun, honest and original.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: My ultimate dream would be to perform alongside Bob Weir, he completely changed the way I approached playing the guitar.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Anything and everything. Everyday is a new musical adventure!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Writing instrumentations / melodies / production
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A blend between something unique and unlike anything you've ever heard before with a slight catchy familiarity.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan would have to be the big two for me.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: It definitely varies on who I am working with. When working with electronic/pop/hip hop artists I am usually more on the production side of things, but whenever I work with other psychedelic rock/indie/alternative bands I tend to do more guitar and contribute in the writing process.
