Was a pleasure to work with Boris! Talented musician and nice person :)
Over the last two years, I have worked with Boris on an exciting and professional album and also on artist development. Boris has single handedly brought my music to the fore.
From songwriting, to merchandise design, website design, playing instruments on my record and ofcourse the actual recording studio work, at his New World Audio Productions studio. He does it all.
All of the equipment and software he uses is exactly the same as what you would find in a more expensive, far away studio. Highly recommended and he simply get the job done. And it sounds so good!
My songs were mixed and mastered to the perfect sound and Boris was competitive as well.
Interview with Boris Markarian / New World
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I can turn a bad song into a good song. I can definetly make a song sound at it best. But I can't correct a bad arrangement.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: My main expertise is rock. From mainstream country rock to indie and alternative rock. From hard rock to acoustic pop. I have done modern pop and electronic music but is not my main expertise.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I go all the way 100% of the time. Untill I don't love the song I wont stop
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I like to mix every song from scratch. No templates, no presets. I like to discover what makes the song special and enhance that. Also I like dynamic mixes, where I can play with the listener and make it more interesting rather than just a plain mix
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a small but very afficient studio setup. My main audio interface is a PreSonus Studio 192. I have a Universal Audio LA-610 full of tubes and carachter. Also a british Audient ASP880 My favourite mic from my collection is the AKG C414XLS and the Shure SM57
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by producers and engineers like Rick Rubin, Andrew Sheps and Chris Lord Alge
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My main expertise is production mixing and mastering. This can include also editing, vocal comp, pitch correction, coaching and even acting as a session mucisian
