I played mainly Rock music, also played Punk Rock, Flamenco, World music, Reggae and italian music. Right now I’m playing BeatSurf with my band “Wasabis” and doing solo projects.
A new road…
In these 30 years as a drummer, I’ve been participating in more than 20 productions, including LPs, EPs and singles. I also had the opportunity to play in many different sized venues for a variety of artists.
In 2020 I decided to go down this road and offer to record live drums and programming sessions for producers, musicians and bands.

Nico is one of the very very few drummers I know that plays to the song, with the song and for the song. His choices are always on the spot and his taste is pristine. Playing and producing with him always brings the best of the music. And being such a nice and easygoing guy makes it even easier to work with, always a pleasure.
I was looking for a sound for my song that reflects a vintage but modern sound at the same time. Nico managed to bring that vital atmosphere to the song and the result is spectacular. It was all easy with him!
I've collaborated with Nicolas on a couple of projects and each one was a pleasure. He's a wickedly talented drummer and an excellent producer! He works quickly and proficiently, great communication too. Recommended 10/10
Working with Nicolas Raiman is a dream come true. He is so talented, creative and reliable! Amazingly quick turn-around time with high quality results. I HIGHLY recommend him!
I worked with Nicolas in a rock project where he played live and recorded an album and some other singles. He is a fantastic drummer with great taste. He suggested arrangements I loved and which become important parts of the songs. He´s got a well-equipped studio and provides excellent visuals while recording. Great person to deal with too.
This guy plays exactly what the song needs, great sound and groove! Hardly recommended!
I had the pleasure to collaborate with Nicolas in a production. His drumming was great! Perfect technique and great taste. The recording quality of the tracks was absolutely top-notch, too! I will definitely work with him again as he is also a genuinely lovely person.
Keep up the great work, Nicolas!
Interview with Nicolas Raiman
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: My production tip would be to listen what the artist want, when you work hired by an artist you must find the way of interpret and respect what he or she wants and needs, then you can add your vision. It's like a game where you let the artist control you to get to some place where everybody will be comfortable.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: The types of music may vary. Actually I'm playing Beat, Surf, Rock and Rockabilly, like 1960s with my band Wasabis. With other artists I played Rock and roll, Reggae, Ska, English Pop, Punk rock, Rumba and Flamenco, World music, a little bit of Manu Chao's cumbia style, Italian music and some lounge tracks.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is how I interpret the track with my own style. Groovy, bold and human. From the technique view, I'm a self instructed and I have a strong connection with the instrument. If your expectations are in the way you want some Vinnie Colaiuta style, or those drummer who read, make Single Stroke Roll, Double Stroke Roll, Single Paradiddle, Double Paradiddle, Single Stroke Seven, Flam Tap...I'm not the guy.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I'm a music fan, I.ve been listening and enjoying music all my life. I appreciate a lot of genres and styles. I like the challenges too, think outside my box and go beyond. I'm a service guy, I like to provide best and quality. If the composer let me, I have my style, my footprint, my stamp. I know with simplicity and good taste I can add my own approach, whatever be the genre, I can be wild or mild...Where the song take me, I'll be there.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Once composers contact me, we talk about the track and the mood, the sound, the style and I ask for a reference if they have one. Then I record and I send it a stereo mix looking forward their reply. If they like it, I can send it mixed, or track by track, even the Logic session if they work with this DAW. I'm always open to do another version of the track if they don't like what I sent.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I'm always looking the way of improving my home studio. Right now I'm using an Audient Sono + Presonus Digimax LT + Apogee Mini. I have a AKG D12 (Vintage) for the Bass drum, two AKG C1000e, one Aston Origin, one MXL customized and three SM57. Sometimes I use an Ampex pre and I have three more Siemens pres looking for vintage sounds.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: There is a lot of drummers who inspire me, starting with Stewart Copeland, my brother Ariel Topo Raiman, Ringo Star, Keith Moon, Steve Jordan, Charley Drayton, Joey Castillo, Steve Ferrone, Sterling Campbell.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mostly of my sessions was in studios, but in 2020 I started to record in my home studio. I participate on collaborations with other composers, even producing and mixing the entire track.
