Alan Morrissey. UK based guitar player, composer and soundtrack artist.
My music is guitar focused, heavy funk metal with big compositions, fast solos and chunky crunchy riffs, calling back to the '70's, '80's and '90's hey-day of British and American rock and metal bands!
I started playing guitar back in 1994, my early influences were the late ‘80’s/ early ‘90’s LA and Seattle music scenes. Moved from Plymouth to Birmingham in 1997 to study at the School of Architecture, where I was part of an acid funk band which I played bass in for 4 years. Stayed in Birmingham, got married and had a family. Made a serious return to music prompted by my father passing away two years ago. Since then I’ve been writing and recording guitar driven instrumental compositions, standing on the shoulders of Nuno Bettencourt, Steve Vai, Mark Knopfler and the familiar favourites from my teenage years!
My influences include Slash, Steve Vai, Nuno Bettencourt, Eddie Van Halen, Mark Knopfler, Tom Morello, Ry Cooder, John Frusciante, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jerry Cantrell, the list goes on!
