Interview with Juan Victor Belisario
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been in the music business for more than 15 years and mixing music for the last 5 years. I've gain experience recording over 5 records with my band Viniloversus and a few other projects as a musician, producer and engineer. I had the opportunity to work closely with music producers like Hector Castillo who produced the third album and won a Latin GRAMMY in 2012 for that record he produced. (Viniloversus - Cambié De Nombre)
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Kevin Parker's Tame Impala. He's a perfect example of how you can create music with very little and get awesome results.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Practice make perfect. Listen to music everyday and trust your ears so when you get to work on a mix you know the difference between a good mix and a not so good mix.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Alternative, rock, pop, electronic.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Produce and mix a song so it sounds big and original.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Besides mixing, I believe if a song is not well produced, I tried to propose ideas of sounds, structure and edits to the client.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I listen to the project and take notes of what does it need to be done within the mix, edits or production.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Rick Rubin, Pharrell, Mark Ronson, Kevin Parker.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Music production, mixing, jingles and audio edits.
