Once again Joel did a phenomenal job, with additional production & mixing. I cannot give this man enough credits!!!
Joel is a great guy, and a great young producer. He helped me out by doing additional production & mixing in one of my tracks, and gave me exactly what I was looking for. Top communication & skills, I can't be happier. Can't wait for the next one!!!!!
Interview with Joel Bernstein
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio set up is very simple. I've got a 27-inch iMac in-between a pair of Yamaha HS8 monitors. I've got a Focusrite Saffife PRO 14 interface to record mics such as the Telefunken Copperhead or AKG C214. I'm a huge advocate to the plug-ins made by FabFilter as well as others like some Abbey Road EQs, Waves plug-ins and my favorite reverb- The Valhalla Vintage Verb.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Talk to them first! Explain your vision and make sure everybody is on the same page.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Practice, practice, practice!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: It's mostly pop music for other people. When I record and produce myself, that can range anywhere from singer/songwriter to R&B to electronic.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Diversity and originality. Growing up in one of the most diverse places in the US has allowed me to gain exposure to all different kinds of music. I have such a knowledgable background on how different music works by really listening and studying different genres of music.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm influenced by a lot of different music. I'm heavily influenced by the whole OVO sound crew and their style and way of producing, but I also love Mike Crossey's work (The 1975, Amber Run, Ben Howard, Lewis Watson etc.) as well as Rick Rubin. The music I tend to write is more singer/songwriter and pop with a heavy influence of R&B and rap.
