Interview with MWM Mosumasa
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: We have two condenser mics that we use the most for vocals and instruments (Rode NT1 and Shure SM57). We also have a couple Shure Sm58's that we often record vocals simultaneously on. We have a 1990s Roland keyboard, an midi, an electronic Alesis drum kit, a live drum kit, 3 acoustic guitars, 3 electric guitars, a banjo, a mandolin, an Ibanez bass, a bongo, and, most importantly, a cowbell.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Rick Rubin is a huge inspiration. He is great at listening to a song as a whole and deciding how it should be filled out. Additionally, we are huge fans of Bon Iver and Mac Miller, as their ability to write, record, and produce a song is something we aspire to.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Primarily we record and produce for artists. Sometimes clients bring a song to us that is mostly done and we add instrumentation or production to get the song master-ready. Other times we start from scratch with an artist, and work closely with them to record, produce, and mix the song.
