I have traveled the Country performing for over 11 years and have experience in live and studio music of every style and genre. I have been classically trained by pedagogues from around the world and have modified and funneled this background into various worlds of sound and artistry. The genre of greatest interest in SACRED MUSIC.

Hi and thank you so much for visiting!
I began studying music at the age of 3 and have now been playing for over 20 years. Having studied with instructors from around the world including Dennis Parker, Alan Harrell, Paul Katz, Daniel Lelchuk and Aldo Matza, I have worked to put maximum heart and excellence into anything from narrative and emotive melodies to technical passages, any or all of which I would be honored to contribute to your project. I've been a member of groups ranging from classical and neo-classical to jazz and pop for the past 11 years. Also, having spent much of that time in the Christian music industry, I regularly do solo work, ensemble or orchestra sessions with many upcoming and Grammy-winning artists in the Nashville area, in the meantime also recording six albums of my own.

She is an amazing cello player and her sister is also phenomenal! They play with such passion and precision. I gave them a few ideas and they ran with it and added so much creativity.

Incredible talent! Gaylyn is amazing, the strings arrangement for my song was perfect, and the sound is very rich and emotional, she captured what I was looking for in the first attempt. She is great to work with, and we had great communication.

I will be back for more :)

    Highly recommend!!!

Gaylyn is a cello virtuoso. Her warm, lyrical playing communicated great tenderness and totally captured the melancholy longing in this song. She totally delivered that passionate ache we were hoping for in her performance. And she provided a dazzling and impressive track on the first try – no revisions needed or even considered. Her superb creative choices provided stunning passages with a vibrant and rich tone and masterfully expressive technique. If you want the best cellist, choose Gaylyn.

Interview with Gaylyn Foto

  1. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  2. A: To offer the best cello services to the piece, one should not only be an accomplished cellist, but a performer as well. It is the "performer" in the cellist that provide the passion & feeling.

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: Classical cross-over sacred, neo-classical

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: Impromptu accompaniment

  7. Q: What's your typical work process?

  8. A: Audition the track when provided, make notes, then track the session. Complete run thru before re-takes.

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: I have a fully noise-abated recording booth for vocal & cello services. My DAW is Studio One Pro v5, Apogee Duet audio interface, Neumann mic, Rode NT5 matched pair pencil mics.

  12. A: Most requests involve cello support scored by the producer/artist. Cello obligato is also a popular request.

  14. A: Totally analog. Go to the beach, the mountains, the city, or the country and listen to the sounds of nature. All analog!

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  16. A: "What is the story behind the song? Express your heart, because this gives me a better idea how you want the final piece to sound,"

  17. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  18. A: The Word of God, cello, computer, water filter, 5lb dumb bells
