I'm a singer, arranger and composer from Vienna. I sing soulful lead vocals and create and record well intonated harmonies.
I studied Jazz Vocals in Vienna. After my dipoma, I soon started working with well-known austrian acts like Sandra Pires, Alfons Haider, Christian Kolonovits, Erwin Kiennast (Kiddy Contest), Andy Lee Lang, Mark Janicello, Horst Chmela, Pete Art... Meanwhile, I'm a permanent member in austrian superstar Wolfgang Ambros' band, was the lead singer of many pop and jazz formations and trained my intonation, blending and timing in a cappella groups. I'm also a choir conductor, composer and vocal arranger. I own a home recording studio in Vienna, where I create and record lead and background vocals fast and with love :-)

Once again - excellent vocals - a pleasure to work with.

The collaboration with Ursula was great fun. I had a somewhat special assignment (vocals for a song composed by two 10 year old girls) and Ursula did a great job. She has a very variable, beautiful voice. On the top, the delivery was incredibly fast.

Interview with Ursula G.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: During the lockdowns I worked with a songwriter and musicians from around the world on an album for which I arranged and sang all the lead and harmony vocals, harmonically very complex in the Singers Unlimited style. Originally it was intended as an instrumental album with only one sung track, but the songwriter liked it so much that he wrote lyrics for all the other songs, and now I can be heard on every single track on the album :-) Check out Modern Times Ensemble - Connections!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Best possible support for the lead singer and the piece as a whole.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: To be able to work at my own pace and decide for myself when the piece is finished.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I actually need very little anyway: a microphone, an interface and my laptop. So I will also take my e-reader (desert island! the opportunity to read!) and a power generator, then nothing can happen :-)
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I studied Jazz Vocals at the Conservatory, after my Dipoma I soon started working with well-known Austrian acts like Sandra Pires, Alfons Haider, Christian Kolonovits, Erwin Kiennast (Kiddy Contest), Andy Lee Lang, Mark Janicello, Horst Chmela... Meanwhile, I'm a permanent member in Austrian superstar Wolfgang Ambros' band, but also have my own procects from a cappella band "Aschanti" to vintage jazz band "ARTanno" and music comedy project "Teilzeitdivas". I am also a choir conductor, composer and vocal arranger internationally in demand. I have been working full-time as a singer (touring and in studio) for over 20 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Something between Andrews Sisters and gospel choir :-)
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: soul, pop, jazz, gospel
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: going beyond the call and doing what's best for the piece music I'm working on.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: My background vocals help the lead vocals to bring more power, warmth or exactness, should embed him well and also sound full and rich a cappella.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: When I'm booked for background vocals, I listen to the whole song first and see if I have everything I need or should contact the buyer again. Then I think about an approximate plan, what I could sing in which chorus it which intensity, whether in the bridge or elsewhere still something could fit, and then I start recording. I set the loop to the half or whole first chorus and record the doubling of the main voice, and afterwards the second and third harmony voice, each doubled. At the very end I make the cuts, and if necessary, small pitch corrections.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio set up includes a Neumann U87 Ai Large Diaphragm Condenser Mic, a Focusrite Audio Interface,an IsoVox Singing Booth and Logic Pro 10.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I find Lisa Fischer very impressive. She is not only a back-up singer, but also very successful as a soloist and songwriter. In my work as a background singer in the studio I like to use different sounds and styles.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: soulful 3-part background vocal harmonies
