Interview with Mário PC

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: My first album, "HighLights". I was responsible for the entire creation and execution process.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I am currently working on my second album, "Match Point", and promoting my jazz festival, "MPC Jazz Festival".

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Yes. Bassist Alex Rocha.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital. More practical, cheaper, and less demand for repairs.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: Satisfaction Guaranteed.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I love music, and I love making music. Music probably saved the lives of many, including mine.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: If it is possible that the product will be ready in one day. If the price can be lowered. I say maybe so. We will always study the client's counter-proposal and the complexity of the project. If it is within the possibilities, we will serve the customer.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: You may be inspired, but if you are not, don't wait for inspiration to come: work hard.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I ask about deadlines and artistic preferences.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: If you're not sure what you want, we'll find it together.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: An AKG 414 microphone, a monster cable, a Studer roll recorder, a Neve preamp, and a Direct Sound headphone.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I've been in the market since 1982. I didn't feel the time went by. I want more!

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I'm an acid saxophonist. A mystical flutist. A composer who loves dance. And an alchemist producer.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I worked for many years with artists. It is pleasant to share new visions with renowned artists, but lately I have been paying full attention to my career as a composer, soloist and music producer.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Producing music by listening to our hearts comes before producing music for market demands or mass human motivations. We must remember that our signature is at stake.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Pop-rock, Jazz-fusion and soundtracks of different styles.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I have no way of measuring what my greatest skill would be since I do everything I do since my beginning, dedicating myself tirelessly and with great passion to Music.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: For all the work I do I rely on my experience and confidence. Years lived on stages and studios. An experience consecrated by the Brazilian music market.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: Recording solos, composing songs, scheduling arrangements or mixing an album, demands full dedication from me. No product leaves my studio before my complete satisfaction.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: The configuration of my studio meets all my demands.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Quincy Jones, Arif Mardin, David Foster, Manfred Eicher, among others.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I have been working with music production for many years. I have written and recorded for albums, movies, soap operas, games, branding and corporate videos.
