Interview with Jason Hall
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Right this second, a Rock 'n Roll record by TJ Hitt.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I use as much analog gear as possible. I even run tracks back through outboard gear to give it the feel/sound of analog. It's almost impossible to completely escape digital, so I try to make the best of it.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will make you happy, no matter how long it takes. Which is why I don't typically do an hourly rate. That way the client doesn't feel taken advantage of or feel like they can't ask for more changes.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love doing it and it doesn't feel like work.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop/Rock, Country, good music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Making music sound great.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a good sized control room to accommodate several listeners, two isolation rooms, a kitchen and a bathroom. I have a hybrid mixing and recording setup, which means I use a decent amount of outboard gear as well as plugins in Pro Tools.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Recording, Mixing and Mastering
