Alexander is a great professional with a great ear for detail. His sound can compete with the best Mastering Engineers in the world as well for a fraction of what these guys charge. The best part about working with him was how much care and attention he put into his work. He has been extremely helpful along every step of the way and I will definitely be hiring him again soon

Interview with SCALPEL SOUND

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: https://soundcloud.com/modnoise/black-tahoe I did mastering of this track and the guys really liked it, they sent a video of how this track sounds at the event and how violently people react to it, it was very nice.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Mastering a new single for one of the most popular bloggers in my country.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Alas, I don't know anyone here, but I'm sure that there are geniuses here, just some are more successful, while others are less ...

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: It doesn't matter if it works, I will use it.

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: I usually work with hip-hop, EDM and similar directions, but I'm ready to work with any genre, my approach allows me to make any genre sound good. I write music myself in different genres and like to experiment.

  11. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  12. A: If music makes you dance, laugh or cry, then it is made from the heart and this is what you need to strive for. Music should touch the feelings of the listener, no matter how it is made.

  13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  14. A: I try to eliminate shortcomings and emphasize the merits without distorting the author's intention.

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: I get the sources, upload them to Har-Bal (new version) https://www.har-bal.com/, analyze and make corrections. Be sure to focus on reference tracks at all stages. After Har-Bal, the material gets into Reaper DAW and then I work with the best products from https://www.acustica-audio.com/

  17. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  18. A: In my studio, I use equipment that I carefully selected for my room, for example, a monitoring system was made to me by a special order. My main monitors were developed by the leading engineers at n-acoustic ( http://n-acoustic.ru/ ). The acoustic design of the studio was developed by engineer Max Poluektov (development and implementation of audio systems for Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini). The perfect room and monitors are complemented by the best Trinnov ST2 PRO correction system ( https://www.trinnov.com/st2-pro/ ). All of these components provide uncompromising precision.

  19. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  20. A: I am inspired by a lot of musicians, but not only musicians inspire me. I like all kinds of art such as Films, Video games, Architecture. There is something interesting to be found in every art form.

  21. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  22. A: I only focus on mastering. My whole approach works to get the best possible result and preserve the message of the author of the music. I do not allow distortion of the idea that the creator of the track laid down.

  23. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  24. A: I will not stop until the client is 100% satisfied.

  25. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  26. A: I love getting feedback after work done.

  27. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  28. A: Can you do it loud? I can send you different versions for different streaming sites and one very loud version.

  29. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  30. A: I can't make an awfully mixed track sound good, but I can make a well mixed track sound amazing.

  31. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  32. A: What are the terms? What are the reference tracks? Where will the music be hosted? Are there any special requests?

  33. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  34. A: Trust, he came to the address;)

  35. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  36. A: I started by writing my own music back in 2006 (I was 16 years old). He got carried away with the synthesis and processing of sound, began to study psychoacoustics and how sound affects a person. Later my hobby became my main activity. Now, in addition to mastering, I am engaged in my own music, sound design, software development and am a beta tester for Voxengo.

  37. Q: How would you describe your style?

  38. A: Surgical precision.

  39. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  40. A: Eminem! When I was in school, I was very fan of him))

  41. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  42. A: First of all, I try to understand what kind of sound the customer wants to get and make every effort to achieve the best result. The ability to listen and make the right decisions is probably my most important skill.
