Interview with AGM Studios Philippines

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: Talent coach or mentor makes me full fill. But unfortunately the time is to limited for such and unfortunately you even don't get paid mostly for such but you still have to pay your bills somehow......

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: mixing and mastering a no. of own originals for new aspiring talents beside some classical instrumentals and others from abroad

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: HYBRID. As a guy coming from the analog era, I still like to have real knobs in my hands. The software makes the workflow much easier nowadays, but the typical analog sound is mostly missing in most records, and I can hear that......(Its much more tiring for my ears to listen to a fully digital and over compressed song than to any old analog vinyl)

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: To get the song sound RADIOREADY and in the way he/she wants and like, according to his/her references and/or ideas

  9. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  10. A: Stay always focused on what you want to do and have started. Get advises and help when needed to succeed with your aims and dreams. From my side, I will bring in my skill and knowledge where needed

  12. A: solar w batteries, headphones, mic and notebook with most of my software

  13. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  14. A: I grew up in a musical family. By age of 6 I started with piano, then as teen Cello and Bass guitar. Performed in countless concerts with orchestras and some bands (cover and originals) and being mixer (sound eng.) for some friends and bands. Being a DJ for 2 years in the mid 80's beside always organizing events, concerts etc. Studied MBA and started my own businesses in promotion, sales and marketing, events and shows, before I got back to my roots and started learning sound engineer at a renown recording company in Germany by 2010. In 2008 I ran a music store for 3 years incl several rehearsal rooms and a project studio, that led me into what I am doing now and was always dreaming off since I was a teenager.

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: Peter Gabriel inspired me in the 80's, also his awesome studio. Chris Brown, Toni Levin are great artists and producers and a few more I would like to collab

  29. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  30. A: Communication, challenges with each single song and client/artist. The final product at the end makes me happy.

  31. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  32. A: How much does it cost and how long does it take. My answer is always, depends on the work load to do on the song. Some are almost perfectly arranged and even the recording and mix acceptable to proceed with final steps, others are in need of help when it come to arrangement, sound and mix. This all effects the work load and time to complete a song and can't be done with a flat fee.....

  33. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  34. A: Depends on the work. I hv several inquiry forms ready to speed up informations needed between both parties.
