It was nice working with Alexis, she puts the effort to achieve the good results.
Nice collaboration, great vocals ! Alexis has great vocal range and flawlessly expresses the essence of every song. Her top quality vocal chain lets her record her own vocals, which can be easily mixed into the highest fidelity production. A true pro!
Interview with Alexis Hightower
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: We both need to keep the communication open and be clear about the deliverables.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A midi Keyboard, an sm7b mic, a UA interface, a very powerful MAC and Logic Pro because it has so many built in sounds.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been singing and playing piano since I was six.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Silky and robust.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Finneas O'Connell. I would like a window into his process because his productions are unmatched.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: A great performance makes for a great production. Start with a great performance and be sure to capture it.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I get hired to do all kinds of genres but I love anything that has soul whether it's R&B, Pop, Disco, Jazz, or Musical Theater.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Singing with a mix of feeling and accuracy. Balancing technique and artistry is my jam!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a love of music and a deep musical vocabulary. My vocal tone is bright and rich at the same time. I try to find the music "inside" the part that is given to me to sing and to bring that out in my performance.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: This depends on the project, but it starts with understanding the clients needs and expects and then seeing how we can exceed expectations together.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a Neumann TC 103 mic and a UA interface. I generally record into Pro Tools but I am also comfortable with Logic.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I honestly can't keep track of the ways in which I am inspired by people who are motivated by a true love of music.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Clients come to me who need professional, polished vocals recorded with vibe and feeling in a clean environment. I read music quite well so I get a good number of clients who require advanced reading skills for complicated and precise vocal parts. I sing with a great deal of feeling so my clients are typically looking for vocals that have depth and style.
