Interview with Elieser de Jesus
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I produced and played keyboards for Brazilians independent artists like Vitor Soltau and Rivia (both in Spotify).
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Producing local artists in Brazil and recording keyboards for local artists too, and doing a lot of online recordings.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not at moment, I'm very new in SoundBetter (I'm comming from Fiveer).
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I have an analog synth (Korg Minilogue), but my setup it's mainly digital.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will be very professional and trustable. I will do my best to improve your song at maximum.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Creation, it's the very nice part of my job! I love create in any music genre.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: The most common question is "Are you interested in this song?". And my anwer in general is "Yes, it's a very nice song, let's do it!" :)
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Some clients tell me to "feel free to add anything you think is good for this song". So I add something, and the client say: "Ohh, I was imagining another thing for this song". The big misconception is "we are never free to add things into a song, we always have restrictions depending on music style, genre, etc".
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What type the song is? How many keyboard layers?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Send me the guide, the BPM, one or two references and it's done! Just trust in my musicality, I will do my best everytime!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A computer, an audio interface, a midi controller, a headphone and a microphone :)
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started in music with 9 years. I'm 42 years old now, so I'm plygin for 30+ years, and producing for 15 years.

A: R&B + Latin style

A: I would like to work with Alicia Keys, I love her style, both playing and producing.

A: The right amount of contrast between song sections is always mandatory.

A: Good taste for harmony and keyboard sounds

A: ears, musicality and creativity are my best qualities
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My typical work process is record keyboards using a guide track sent by client, all using ears, in general the clients are not sending lead sheets or music scores. Some clients send me some references to match the playing and sounds.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a nice home studio where I record my works. I have the Yamaha MOXF8 (88 keys), Korg Minilogue, Novation Keystation, Roli Blocks and a Hammond Melodica.
