I am a music producer and mixing / mastering engineer with a Bachelor's Degree in Audio Engineering and Sound Production. I have been producing my own music independently for 4+ years whilst also having Engineered & produced for many local artists in the Northern Beaches. Feel free to contact me for any questions.

Located in the Northern Beaches, Brandon started leaning Piano at the age of 6 followed by the Clarinet at 12. At the age 17 he discovered the DAW Ableton Live and was completely blown away that you can make music on a laptop. From that day onward he fully delved into pursing music as a dream career. Brandon graduated from JMC Academy in 2019 with a Bachelor's Degree in Audio Engineering and Sound Production. With over 4 years of experience producing, mixing and mastering and over 500 hours in a professional recording/mastering studio, Brandon is more than ready to turn whatever's thrown at him into a professional, radio ready song.

Interview with Brandon Flannery

  1. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  2. A: I have a Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering and Sound Production and I have first hand experience producing, mixing and mastering my own music. This is as strong of a foundation as it gets and I know that my experience and skills are reliable.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: A few of my own singles, some involving other featured artists!

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Even though I produce, mix and master primarily electronic music. I still aim towards achieving the sound and warmth of analog.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: I promise to deliver high quality work in a professional manner, and I will provide revisions

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: Absolutely everything.

  11. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  12. A: That because I'm only 21, I'm not experienced enough to be doing 'professional' work.

  13. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  14. A: 1. What can I do for them ( I like to understand what my client needs in order to give them my honest opinion whether or not i'll be the right person for the job) 2. Any reference material to understand what you have in mind so I can make creative decisions based on your preferences.

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: If you have any questions about what I do feel free to contact me. I'm usually at my studio working on music so I'm pretty fast at responding!

  19. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  20. A: I still currently work a casual job in retail in order to sustain myself and continue doing what I love which is music. I've been producing for 4+ years but I grew up playing the Piano and Clarinet.

  21. Q: How would you describe your style?

  22. A: I take huge influence from the artists I mentioned above, so a combination of them. I've been experimenting with layering sounds from the very beginning so I have a good ear for that kind of stuff.

  23. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  24. A: Flume, Illenium, Kasbo, Odesza. They've inspired me immensely. I really resonate with their music and the fact that they continue to push the limits of how music can be made. Creating new sounds that you've never heard before is really mind blowing and inspiring.

  25. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  26. A: Watch livestreams & videos from other music producers/engineers.

  27. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  28. A: Indietronica, Chillwave, Trap, Electropop, Future Bass, Hip hop, Experimental, Alternative/Indie

  29. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  30. A: Sound design and mixing different layers to create a 'wall of sound'.

  32. A: Main Equipment: Yamaha HS8's, Apollo Twin X Duo, Maschine Mk3, Fender Mexican Standard Telecaster, Ibanez aw65ece-lg. Software: Ableton Live 10, Pro Tools, FabFilter Mastering bundle, Soundtoys 5, Kontakt 12 Ultimate, Waves Horizon, Ozone 8, etc

  33. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  34. A: EDM: Flume, Porter Robinson, ODESZA, Illenium, Kasbo Folk/Acoustic: Novo Amor, Bon Iver, Hollow Coves, Dope Lemon

  35. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  36. A: Usually I spend 4-8 hours producing, mixing and mastering my own music and occasionally sending off demos to other artists & producers. For the clients i've worked with recently, I've mixed and produced songs, background music, and engineered using the studios at JMC.
