John’s been the drummer of the critically acclaimed band NRBQ since 2015. He's also an in-demand session musician and engineer in Chicago, IL. He’s contributed his drumming to albums by Rodney Crowell (whose 'Chicago Sessions' album produced by Jeff Tweedy and featuring John was nominated for a Grammy), She & Him (featuring Brian Wilson), Young Fresh Fellows, The Minus 5, Greg Townson (Nick Lowe/Los Straitjackets), Josh Caterer (Smoking Popes), Sarah Borges, and Pete Donnelly (The Figgs). John's well known by songwriters all over the world for his attention to detail, quality, and most importantly - the song.
Besides NRBQ, you can currently find John touring live with such acts as JD McPherson, Young Fresh Fellows, Smoking Popes (on bass), and Jake La Botz.
His time in NRBQ has seen many glowing reviews published by New York Times, Washington Post, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Pollstar, and High Times. John had to learn & memorize over 500 songs just to join NRBQ as the band never performs with a set list.
John’s work has been featured in drumming publications such as 'DRUM! Magazine' and 'Not So Modern Drummer'. He's performed all over the world (India, Ukraine, Israel, Ecuador, etc...) and even performed on Late Night with David Letterman 3 times.
John has an extensive home studio full of recording equipment, drum/percussion instruments, guitars, basses, & keyboards.
