John Perrin

Session Musician & Producer

John Perrin on SoundBetter

John Perrin has been best known as the drummer in the critically acclaimed band 'NRBQ' since 2015, but he's also an in demand session musician, engineer, producer, & live performer. John is capable of recording professional quality drum (up to 12 mics), guitar, bass, keyboard/patch, and vocal tracks in his home studio. John has an ear unlike most.

John Perrin has turned a lifetime of musicianship into a budding career. He’s been playing drums since he was 2-years-old, performing live since he was 10, and began doing session work since age 12. He's now 27 and has honed his skills to the point of musicians twice his age.

John joined the legendary American band 'NRBQ' in 2015. When asked about his experiences touring and recording with the group, he had this to say: "I feel as if joining NRBQ is like taking advanced classes in the most highly regarded school of music to ever exist."

John has personally been highlighted in a feature with “DRUM! Magazine” and written about with the group in articles published by The Washington Post (both of which have been attached), Rolling Stone, Billboard, Pollstar, and High Times.

When touring stopped in 2020, John took the opportunity to hone his skills as an audio engineer and session musician. In that year alone, John played on over 30 sessions, including artists such as She & Him, Bonnie Raitt, Scott The Hoople (members of R.E.M.), Greg Townson (members of Nick Lowe & Los Straitjackets), and Josh Caterer (The Smoking Popes).
