Interview with Singolairtae
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I’m particularly proud of a project I worked on as a ghost producer for a Melodic Techno track that became quite successful. My role was to create the main melody and manage sound design. It was a very challenging yet rewarding job, and the results were fantastic
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I’m currently working on some productions for emerging artists, as well as remixing tracks for a few known artists
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I prefer using digital for its versatility and precision, but I also enjoy using analog gear for adding warmth and character to sounds
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is to deliver a high-quality product that meets or exceeds the client’s expectations, providing a fresh and professional sound
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love the creative freedom that music production offers. Every project is different, and I get to explore new ideas and techniques every time
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: One of the most common questions is: 'How long does it take to finish a track?' My answer is that it depends on the complexity of the project, but on average, it takes anywhere from a week to a month for a high-quality job
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: People often think ghost production is just about 'copying' a sound. In reality, it’s about creating something original and tailored specifically to each client
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I always ask what kind of atmosphere they want for the track, what their musical influences are, and if there are specific tracks they’d like to use as references for the sound
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Make sure to communicate your vision for the track clearly. The more details and information you provide, the better the final result will be
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A powerful laptop with my DAW, a MIDI controller, a pair of high-quality headphones, a microphone, and a portable audio interface
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started producing music as a hobby several years ago, and over time, it turned into a full-time career. I've worked with different artists and labels, and for the past five years, I’ve been focusing on ghost production and remixing
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is a mix of modern electronic sounds with an experimental touch, always looking for new textures and ways to push creative boundaries
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I’d love to work with Flume because his ability to blend electronic and organic sounds in unexpected ways is something I find incredibly inspiring and exciting
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: A good mix starts with good separation of sounds. Never underestimate the importance of organizing your tracks and giving each element the right space in the frequency spectrum.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I primarily work on Afro house and Melodic Techno, but I also do projects in genres like pop, hip hop, and film music. I love experimenting and stepping outside traditional genre boundaries.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is sound design and get closer to the customer's idea or the need of the moment, especially when it comes to creating unique and experimental sounds that give the track a distinctive personality
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a versatile approach, focusing on blending creativity with technical expertise. My goal is always to give the track a unique identity while maintaining balance and professional sound quality
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My process always starts with carefully listening to the client’s needs and their vision for the track. Then I focus on the creative side: composition, sound design, and arrangement. Once I have a rough draft, I move to mixing and mastering to give the track a professional sound.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio setup includes a professional DAW (Ableton 12), Focal Solo 6be studio monitors, an Arturia 8pre interface and a wide library of plugins and virtual instruments for sound design and music production
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by artists like Deadmau5 for his ability to create memorable melodies, Skrillex for his innovation in sound design, and producers like Flume who blend electronic elements with unique experimental sounds
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mainly work on ghost production, remixing, mix & mastering, and sound design. My clients usually seek to create tracks with a unique sound and professional quality, with a focus on originality
