Violin, viola, string arranging, background vocals. Most genres.
I believe songs tell a story and my job is to help bring that to life.
Sure, I've performed on the Grammy's with H.E.R, and jammed on stage with Los Lobos. I've written string arrangements for The Monkees, spent hours studying the works of Jack Nitzche and Van Dyke Parks, shared the stage with the cast of 20 Feet From Stardom, worked closely and shared the stage with original members of The Band, Big Star, The Lovin' Spoonful, The Beach Boys. Geoff Emerick (The Beatles producer) was one of my mentors until he sadly passed away. I met him when he was engineering a session I was playing on. I am on the first track to the new album by The Lemon Twigs. I toured opening for Brian Wilson. I played live with Iration. I've conducted an orchestra for songs of The Buffalo Springfield, which I transcribed and arranged myself. I've played on a lot of records. So many records.
But I love recording and I'd be thrilled to work on your project. If you think I would be a good fit for your project then please reach out to me. Nothing gets me more excited than opening a song file and hearing what it could possibly be. I love the diversity of music and the possibilities of creativity. I also love a challenge.
So please don't hesitate, let's make some music!
Tell me about your project and how I can help, through the 'Contact' button above.

I had the pleasure of having Kaitlin add a string section to one of my songs. Her communication was great and everything was delivered right on time and exceptionally organized! Every track was broken out individually and labeled which made it easy to import into my daw. I highly recommend Kaitlin and hope to work with her again!

Kaitlin is WONDERFUL! I got exactly what I asked for and more. I asked for a couple arrangement ideas and I received 144 individual tracks of gorgeous string lines total, very organized. I recieved 4 different arrangement ideas. I also received wav files of each of the arrangement ideas. Professional, creative, punctual, Inspired. Thank you!
I will definitely be working with Kaitlin the next time I need strings for a future project.

Kaitlin played/created a beautiful string arrangement for one of my songs. Communication was fantastic and was nothing but a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend Kaitlin for both her composition and playing. I hope to work with her again in the future.
I have been working with this top notch professional since 2011. We have worked in many musical areas, from songwriting to helping me as a partner in two bands, performing many gigs, national anf international tours, recording sessions. She also knows a ton of professional musicians and will do nearly everything to help you realize your project, but first call will always be for her musical skills on violin which is very high level. I have founf her to always work well with everyone.
Kaitlin is an unbelievably valuable asset in the studio and on the stage. She is a consummate professional with top-flight chops and a sweet personality. She takes direction terrifically, though most of the time she has an ESP-like instinct for what needs to be done. It's a pleasure to work with Kaitlin. She is truly among the best.
We can all agree that Strings make everything better, and Kaitlin has been my most valuable resource for all things strings. She's also a double-threat; an equally brilliant arranger AND player. Whenever I need anything, I consult Kaitlin first. What's so amazing is she can do the work of a whole quartet! Violin, viola, "chin-cello", recorded at her home studio and beamed right over.
Kaitlin is extremely professional and very easy to work with. She always goes above and beyond to make sure that her client is happy with her work. I will happily work with her anytime.
Kaitlin was my first call violinist for almost a decade when I lived in L.A. She always brought professionalism and taste to every song that was lucky enough to have her. She was always patient when deciphering my amatuer arrangements, and always added flair and understanding to them. Kaitlin is an easy hang in the studio, which can be a huge asset when dealing with a tricky client. Her arrangements are very original and worth exploring. I can’t reccomend her enough.
Interview with Kaitlin Wolfberg
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am especially proud of my performance on The Grammy's with H.E.R. I was on the prerecord and on stage. That was a bucket list moment.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on a cover of Joni Mitchell's Big Yellow Taxi and string arrangements for the album Ram by Paul McCartney.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Gordon Bash on upright bass!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I like to listen to analog, because you can't beat analog records from the 50s and 60s and 70s, where everyone was in the same room and you can hear the rumble of the bass.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to make high quality recordings and I will try to elevate your music to a higher level.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love music and the excitement of checking out a new song without having any idea of what it will sound like. The possibilities are endless!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Do you play viola? Yes I play viola.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That it's just a quick thing.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Do you have any ideas for what you want this to sound like?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Get the song as finished as possible before you send it to me.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My intsruments, good headphones and my pedal board.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I picked up a violin at 9 years old and quickly found myself fully engulfed in everything that was music and the violin. I went to Berklee College of Music after high school and eventually found myself playing in Los Angeles professionally about 10 years ago.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is a bit of a chameleon, I like to be a little bit of everything.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Paul McCartney because he's the greatest.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Organization is key.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on singer songwriter music, but I often find myself playing prog and powerpop and just plain pop music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is looking at the big picture and making it better somehow.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I like to think I bring beauty and passion to a song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Usually I will just mess around on violin to a song until I get an idea of how I think I could compliment it best. Then I come up with a solid part and then I embellish that part with full sections.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a home studio with stereo mic setup and the apollo twin. I use protools, and some plugins.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am inspired by H.E.R., Beyonce, Lana Del Rey, Joni Mitchell, and The Beatles.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of what I do lately is write string arrangements for singer songwriters.
