Interview with Mateusz Janiak
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most common type of work...hmmm...online mixing and mastering. Sometimes drum recording or editing.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: There are plenty of them - Andy Wallace, Andy Sneap, Terry Date, Jason Suecof, Colin Richardson, Wieslawscy Bros, CLA, Ross Robinson. And for the musicans I love to watch - Chuck Schuldiner, Dave Lombardo, Iron Maiden, Metallica (old days...), Slayer, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Cannibal Corpse....etc....etc... :) Beside metal scene I love to listen to Hans Zimmer and Ludovico Einaudi, Queen music is just fabulous!

A: I try to bring everything that makes client satisfied:)
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Usually I work on heavy sounds - from pop-rock (Avril Lavigne, Blink 182 style) to technical Death Metal. I'm also a musician playing with different bands so rock/metal gneres are no secrets for me.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Metallica. Because I love their music and just can't stand the sound of their last production.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: RME interface, Neumann monitors, Notebook (to check soundbetter :D), headphones for windy nights and my favourite coffee cup :)

A: Don't hesitate to ask!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What are their sound expectations, any reference recordings, do they need any additional stuff on their music
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How much/How long/Is it possible :)
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Job that is my passion. Could it be better?
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I'll do my best to get you a tracks that you're fully satisfied with. I'm aware it's your music and you want it to sound as good as it's possible so for me your satisfaction is more valuable than money.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. At the moment I don't have much outboard but I hope to get some API 500 in near future. Not because it's better, it's beacuse making music is fun :)
