Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: We recently produced a song for a friend called Toni Reutter. She is an upcoming independent artist who was looking to expand her audience and this was her 2nd release. The song now has 50,000 streams on Spotify and she continues to grow organically. We are proud to have contributed to her process!!

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: Tons of songs with clients all over the world!! We have been writing, producing, mixing and mastering non-stop for the past year.

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: BOTH!! We love using preamps and analog gear when we work in big studios. Currently, we work mostly in the box (digital) and have learned to use and love digital sound processing. However, we are planning on expanding our studio and getting good sounding analog gear!!

Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: How much do you charge for....? Hahaha

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: People often disregard the importance of each step in the process of creating a good record. Each step is essential for the process. A good production can't fix weak songwriting, and a great mix can't fix a bad production.

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: We like to ask clients about their vision and their goals. If we understand what the client wants to convey and achieve we can accurately deliver a product they love. A good way to achieve this is for the client to give us a couple of references (songs or artists they love). This allows us to help them get to that professional level.

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: Clear communication is key!!

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: Our condenser Neumann mic, our Apollo interface, our computers, a guitar and a MIDI Keyboard. That's all you need to create a hit.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: Both of us started playing since we were little kids and developed a deep love for music. We started learning music theory and music production when we were really young. Then, we both attended Berklee College of Music and graduated in 2020. We refined and expanded our knowledge and we are now working with professional artists and record labels.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: Relevant to the market you are aiming for. We are always aiming for versatility. Before starting any new project, we like to be informed about the different elements that are present in our clients references. Reggaeton tracks have a strong beat, Ballads have expressive vocals, Trap is all about the low-end, etc. Every genre needs a different approach and special attention to key elements.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: We love artists that break the rules. C.Tangana, Rosalía, Bad Bunny and Camilo have all different styles, but are quite unique in their musical proposals.

Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

A: Daniel Uribe, Juan Guillermo Aguilar "Cosito", Daniel Rojas "Reds", Jeronimo Hernandez. All of them are super talented and professional musicians.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: They will be happy with the result and it will be a top-quality product.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: It doesn't really feel like a job. We are doing what we always dreamt of doing, what we love to do.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: Good Music.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: Versatility.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: We usually start by identifying the artist's intention and target audience. What they want to accomplish with the song and what specific sound they want to have. Then we find references, songs that have been successful that can help us shape the production. Then we get into the technical stuff: sequencing, recording, mixing and mastering. We usually go back and forth with our clients in every step of the process until they are completely satisfied with the results.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: We are equipped with 2 Apollo Duo Interfaces, 1 Neumann TLM 103 Mic, 2 AKG Perception 420 Mics, 1 SM57 Mic, 2 sets of monitors, 88 Key MIDI Keyboard, 2 Electric (Fender, Gibson) and 2 Acoustic Guitars (Taylor, Gibson). We also use our Sennheiser HD 600 Headphones for constant reference when mixing and producing.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: Use references! Great music has already been made and it has had success for a reason. Study what makes those songs you love so much so good and start "stealing" and applying what you learn from them. This will help you improve in a faster and more effective way.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: Commercial Insight. We have been learning from and working with artists that have millions of streams. We have learned what people like to hear from their favorite artists. We have seen firsthand which songs have those "extra" elements that allow them to appeal to wide audiences, and we can help our clients to get their songs to that level.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: Elevating a song to a professional commercial standard. We can develop anything - ranging from a voice note to a full production - and take it to the next level, making it competitive within the music industry. We have done multiple project developments - Songwriting, Production, Mixing and Mastering.
