I specialize in creating unique productions and whimsical sonic landscapes tailored to the artist.
I am a composer, producer, sound designer, and vocalist ready to take your project to the next level. I am passionate about creating music that reflects the personality of the artist in an interesting way. I primarily work in art pop, indie pop, and filmscore but I have studied and worked in almost every genre.
I am currently at university for classical composition, piano, and production. My background in classical music gives me a good ear for details and a knowledge of music theory that will elevate any production. I love to try new techniques and ideas and use untraditional "instruments" such as vintage telephone noises, bowed vibraphone, toy piano, etc.
I begin each project by learning about the artist and their vision. Then I begin collecting sounds for the project, making sure that each artist has a distinct collection. This is the longest part of the process! Then I arrange the sounds around the artists vision and send the production to the artist for feedback.

Endorse Emily ShawInterview with Emily Shaw
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I released my first EP a few months ago, I wrote, produced, recorded, and sang the entire thing myself. I think it captures what I wanted to say at the time
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: My new album "decay"
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both, although digital is more convenient.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I won't be satisfied with a project until the music fits the client's style!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: cliche, but I'm in it for the emotion. I just want to create music that people can relate to.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I only think about the music - the overall aesthetic and vision of the artist is the most important and informs my decisions for the music
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What sort of artwork (music, literature, photography, etc.) inspires you? What is the most important aspect of this project for you? How do you want the listener to feel when they hear your song?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Do the research! Listen to the examples provided and make sure you vibe with it. Know the limitations and strengths of the people you want to work with and capitalize on them!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A toy piano, my AKG c414, my laptop, and my own brilliant mind :)
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been producing for almost five years, and composing and writing songs for over a decade
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Weird pop
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Aaron Bruno of AWOLNATION. I think his intuition for music is incredible.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: The more character (i.e. static, overtones, dirty recording) a sound has the better it will sound in the mix.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I like working on alternative pop/ indie pop the best, but the most common work I do is creating music for film students.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Creating captivating sounds that nobody's ever heard before
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I create a unique sonic world for each artist
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start by creating a collection of sounds that fits the artist - then I arrange them in a cool way and add a topline/lyrics if needed, or build upon the artist's topline.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I've got Logic Pro X, a couple microphones, and some good studio monitors and interface.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Yeule, Finneas, and David Bowie all inspire me, among hundreds of others!!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Production for sure
