I'm Chris Clark, a British bassist with a passion for Rock, Pop, Indie, and Metal. I’m a proficient Pro Tools user and excel both in-studio under direction and remotely from my home studio.
I've had the pleasure of recording for numerous UK groups and artists, including WMG, Dan Owen, Grace Grundy, Lawrence Taylor, and Ellie Goulding.

Interview with Christopher Clark
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I had a fantastic time recording for UK artist Grace Grundy, I was invited to record bass for her whole EP, there was direction and instant feedback which brought out some very interesting parts and approaches to her music which I thought worked great.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: a new metal EP for a band in the UK and some singer songwriter pre production demoes for a signed artist
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I've seen a couple of pro players on here that i greatly respect! I hop the british thing i do may help suit your recordings.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Ha! The world we live in in analogue but the music we consume (for the most part) has some form of Digital. I love creating warmth and saturation with gear outside the box, but i am also a massive beliver in the tools an process Digital affords are spectacular. So a non answer, answer for you ha
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To respect the song and provide a professional service and performance.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I've always been obsessed with the bass guitar, so if everyday involves the bass i am very happy.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Not to sure really! I like to think i have an interesting approach to playing, hopefully that uniqueness will be of benefit to your production

A: Time frame - Tone
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Lets have a chat :) I'm always keen to hear your thoughts and what you think the instrument could be doing in the song. Lets make it happen!

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been playing bass for as long as I can remember, I started as a band member, then I studied Audio engineering in the UK. I then started playing for lots of different people, unsigned artists and aigned artists, a lot of touring followed, became a Bass tutor and still perform as much as possible. Remote sessions and Recording sessions came hand in hand throughout the process of playing as much as possible. My schedule has allowed me to open up diary for more remote recording again so here we are!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Current awareness of musical styles and technical requirements. Very happy playing Fingers, Thumb, Pick, Slap Hybrid etc,
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to explore piano accompaniment on Bass Guitar.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: High pass can be your friend.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock, Pop, Indie, Metal
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Ability to present musical options to help fix a musical problem
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I like to think I bring a sense of creativity to the role and its purpose in the song. I like to serve the song whilst maintaining a fluidity of melodic content and choice suiting the stylistic tendencies of the genre I'm working in.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Usual session involves either being send a PT Session or stems, I will follow the brief or either, Create a bass line to this using this reference or description. or here is the line can you please record it. I supply either a session with playlist options or export Wav's. Usually Pre Clean DI + Post affected bass signal.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Remote set up, Collection of Fenders (P/J/M) A few Dingwall combustions too. Pedals such as Sansamp, Darkglass pedals, Aguilar, Apollo
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by all sorts of Music and Musicians. I'm a big fan of great bass sounds that inspire me to play the instrument. People like Simon Grove, Steve Lawson, Amos Williams.
