Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: There's so many, man. We mastered a Transitoria song and it was awesome, some days ago we did a bunch of toplines for catchy songs, great too. Every single project full us of joy and are special.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: On a Heavy Metal guitarist Hector Ribeiro's EP. This guy is an outstanding guitarplayer
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: DANIEL DUSKIN! This guy is awesome
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both because they fit awesome together! (But analog is awesome!)
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To work their songs as we do to ours.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Freedom to work with art, to be in touch with some many artists around the world
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Q: Timing/Alignment and/or vocal tune is part of mix job? A: No. We do this job but we charge for :) Q: Why you guys give just 1 free revision per track? Why you charge for an additional? A: Because we think you know what are you looking for, and we run with some analog gear, that's not that easy to recall for a revision, and also it take us time. Q: Why I have to ask for a recall untill 48 hours after the delivery? A: Ask for revision as soon as you can is better because you help us to give a good workflow and you will have no time to search for undermost things to change and just enjoy the vibe of your music.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: It make people rich lol
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Your tracks are proper for mixing? On tune, on time, labeled? Do you have some reference? Something like this.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Bring your tracks properly, have good references and know what you want.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: 1 Fender Strat 2 A audio interface 3 Computer 4 Analog Channel Strip 5 A pair of monitors
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: 2 guitarists and producers growth on the early 90's and started to playing around venues RJ and Brazil on mid 2000, recording in several studios till now. We decide to unite forces and skills to bring the best of what we can do on our jobs. Almost 2 decades of experience to make your song rocks!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: No fear on take decisions on mixing, to explore new paths on toplines, recording.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Muse, of course! We think they have a great musical touch with a complex and creative artist part.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Be aggressive!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop rock, punk rock, heavy rock, math rock, metal, singer song-writer.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Creativity! For any service we do, we always try to put our ID and try new ideas on it.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Well, we do a lot stuff, but on mixing/mastering we bring punch and body, with analog warmth, on recording/creative, we have a different creative approach for our toplines and guitar tracking.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Check what the customer asked for, listen to the track, have a glass of coffee to get into the song vibe, and to what we have to do.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: We're running with classic and modern Yamaha Monitors: NS10 + HS8. Hybrid mixing setup with a FCA interface routed into a patchbay to Some dbx, art and alesis VCA style comps, Samson and Presonus Optical Style comps and Art Tube Equalizers giving the warm touch. Pro Tools 12 / Reaper For guitars we are working with a classical setup: Fender Strat / Gibson Les Paul / PRS SE into a Laney tube amp.
