Hi! I'm John and I live in Nashville, TN. I'm excited to be a part of your next project and would be happy to offer my services to help perfect your song. I specialize in alternative and pop rock, country, and worship/christian music. I can work remotely on your project or in person if you are in the Nashville area.
Living in Nashville, I have been fortunate to be surrounded by great music and great players everywhere I turn. My most consistent experience playing bass in my seven years in this city has been at churches, conferences, and with Christian artists due to my faith and the prominent Christian music industry here. However, I'm no stranger to other genres of music as I have also done session work and performed with singer-songwriters and country, pop, and rock artists.
It is my commitment to work with you on your song until it sounds exactly the way you want it. I will offer constant communication before, during, and after productions and will work with you on any necessary revisions after delivering a solid take. Each project will be recorded using Logic Pro X, so you can rest assured that you will be receiving a high quality track.
Thank you so much for considering me for your project! Let's create something great together!
Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

John is amazing! He recorded a couple songs on my recent demo and they turned out perfect! He did a great job adding the right amount of bass fills without over playing. I highly recommend him!
Interview with John Fleming - Session Bassist
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: When getting started, I prefer to listen to a song as many times as necessary to get a feel for the overall style and structure. I will then chart out the song and record 2-3 personal scratch tracks to give me a good starting point. From there I will record a first take to gather your feedback and approval about what you liked and didn't like. I will then make any necessary revisions until you have a finished track you are proud of!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to work with you diligently until you are completely satisfied with your final product, and I promise to approach our work together with no ego whatsoever. I'm here to help and to serve you, not to tell you what you should do.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Jon Foreman because he is an all around great dude and I've grown up listening to his music. It still causes me to stop and think about the way I live my life every time I listen to his songs.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Worship/Contemporary Christian, all varieties of rock, and country.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: When hiring a bassist, you want someone who is going to add some creativity and style to their playing, but ultimately who is able to hold down the song, keeping it consistent and locked in with the drummer. I think I do a great job of walking the line between overplaying and simply following along with the chords, adding just the right amount of flair without taking away from any of the the other instrumentation.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I've converted a spare room in my house into a home studio where I have my TC Electronic RH450 amp set up along with an A-Designs REDDI, either of which I can run direct into my Native Instruments Complete Audio 6 interface. All tracking is done via Logic Pro X on my MacBook Pro, though I have also worked with GarageBand on smaller demo sessions as well.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Jon Foreman is one my favorite songwriters and musicians. I love the style of music he creates as well as the honesty of his work. It inspires me to play music that speaks to someones heart.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The majority of the work I've done has been live gigs and tracking for music in the worship/Christian, pop rock, and country genres.
