Interview with Megisto
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Many projects and collaborations with STMPD RCRDS and their artist.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both have pros and cons, Fortunately, I can use the best of both worlds.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I'll make sure you get what YOU want and not what I want.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I am genre-specific. I have developed my sound over the years through meticulous practice in the production process and it has given me a deeper understanding of music in general. That enables me to produce a variety of genres.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: - Clear references (not more than 2) - What's their purpose (in case they want me to tailor the production accordingly) - What it means to them are the two main questions I ask.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: It's important to learn beforehand if the person is easy to work with. A lot of times communication gap between the provider and the client will upset/slow down the whole process
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop and Headphones. That's all if it is the end of the world. Also, charger, headphone jacks, and a bottle of water if that counts haha
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: A lot of learning. 7 years in the making.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Analog & Experimental
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Swedish House Mafia. Resonates the most with what I am onto achieve.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Knowing when to stop is very crucial. Great ideas can be easily lost when complicated.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Most commonly House, Pop, and Hip Hop
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I've always been an out-of-the-box thinker, I can create the most generic house beat and I can create a unique pop tune as well. I can bring to the song what you require.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Brainstorm a couple of ideas and continue working on the one I connect the most and fits the client requirements to the fullest.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: There are many inspiring producers in the scene but I take a lot of inspiration from Sevdaliza, Skrillex, Aphex Twin, and Martin Garrix to make some.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: - Mixing & Mastering - Audio Editing - Music Production
