Interview with Megisto
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started my music journey seven years ago at a small music institution, where I took a short course that sparked everything. From there, I taught myself and developed my sound through studio sessions, collaborations, and hands-on experience. My path has taken me across the world from Dubai and India to London, exposing me to a wide range of genres, cultures, and musical styles. I’m inspired by music in different languages, and that diversity continues to shape my sound. I later moved to London to study music formally, where I earned a First-Class Honours degree in Music Production and Performance. Since then, I’ve signed with STMPD RCRDS and caught the attention of Martin Garrix, which has opened up opportunities to tour, release music, and collaborate with a global network of artists and producers. Today, I’m part of a dedicated team, consistently creating, performing, and pushing creative boundaries.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Swedish House Mafia. Resonates the most with what I want to achieve with my artist alias.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: One of the most important skills is knowing when to stop. Great ideas can quickly lose their impact when overcomplicated. Sometimes, simplicity is what makes a track powerful and memorable.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Most commonly House, Pop, and Hip Hop (both Commercial and Experimental for all genres)
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Music Production & Mixing/Mastering I’ve spent 7 years mastering the craft, not just a genre. Whatever the style, I focus on what makes the music hit, creatively and technically.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I’ve always approached music with an out-of-the-box mindset. Whether it’s crafting a clean, mainstream house beat or building a unique, genre-blending pop tune, I adapt to what the song truly needs. My strength lies in understanding the creative direction and bringing the right energy, emotion, or edge to make the track stand out, commercially and artistically.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I begin by brainstorming a couple of strong ideas and then move forward with the one that resonates most and aligns best with the client’s vision and requirements. Initially, I work quickly and intuitively on the idea, without overthinking technical details, so that the core creative energy is captured early. Throughout this stage, I actively involve the client, sharing progress and gathering feedback to ensure we're aligned. Once we have a solid foundation, I develop the full track, then spend the next few days refining, fine-tuning, and polishing it to deliver a final product that feels both inspired and professionally finished.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: There are many inspiring producers in the scene, but I take a lot of inspiration from Martin Garrix, RUFUS DU SOL, Chris Lake, John Summit, Sevdaliza, Skrillex, and Aphex Twin in the EDM Scene. Inspiration from other genres includes Playboi Carti, Kendrick Lamar, PARTYOF2, and The Weeknd.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Many projects and collaborations with STMPD RCRDS and their artist.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both have pros and cons, Fortunately, I can use the best of both worlds.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I'll make sure you get what YOU want and not what I want.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I am genre-specific. I have developed my sound over the years through meticulous practice in the production process and it has given me a deeper understanding of music in general. That enables me to produce a variety of genres.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: - Clear references (not more than 2) - What's their purpose (in case they want me to tailor the production accordingly) - What it means to them are the two main questions I ask.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: It's important to learn beforehand if the person is easy to work with. A lot of times communication gap between the provider and the client will upset/slow down the whole process
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop and Headphones. That's all if it is the end of the world. Also, charger, headphone jacks, and a bottle of water if that counts haha
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: - Mixing & Mastering - Audio Editing - Music Production
