Trent Hays

Music Producer

Trent Hays on SoundBetter

I make pop music.

My goal is to take the vision in your head and turn it into a reality. Before starting the project, I like to have a conversation to get into the details of what you're trying to achieve. I have produced a variety of genres from country, singer/songwriter, rock, pop, and contemporary christian music. I'm very efficient in remote collaboration and will guide you through the entire process. I'm looking forward to creating a song with you! Please reach out with any questions that you might have.

Interview with Trent Hays

  1. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  2. A: Charlie Puth. He is a musical genius and I think he could teach me a lot.

  3. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  4. A: Your first instinct is almost always right. Always go with what you feel.

  5. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  6. A: Mostly Pop but, I seriously love most styles of music and can relate to them in some way.

  7. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  8. A: I would have to say communication and the ability to see the full potential of a musical idea.

  9. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  10. A: All of the technical things that Artists don't have the time to learn. I also am a musician myself and have musical ideas that I bring to the table.

  11. Q: What's your typical work process?

  12. A: The typical work process for me is having a client send me a "work tape" or demo. This could be a recording on their phone. Once I receive it, I then starting building the track. I send the client early drafts of the production to ensure that we are on the same page. I don't like to work on something for days or weeks without the client hearing it, because it's easy to take the song to a place where it wasn't intended to go. I like to always keep the client in the loop with what's going on.

  13. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  14. A: My studio setup is very minimalistic. I have a few pieces of hardware but, I mostly do all of my work with plugins because of the quality, consistency, and ease of adjustment during recalls.
