Ryan M Benton

Drummer / Mixer / Producer

Ryan M Benton on SoundBetter

Veteran indie rock drummer and mix engineer. Recorded and/or toured with Sons Of Great Dane (Kansas City, MO), Radio City (Emporia, KS), The Only Children (Lawrence, KS), and Josh Berwanger (ex-The Anniversary).

Since 1995, I have been recording and touring nationally/Canada with various indie rock bands, as a drummer. During that time I was simultaneously learning how to record and mix. In 2011, I became a student at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences (Tempe, AZ). After finishing classes, I interned at various studios in Nashville...particularly with Jason, Jordan, and Kyle Lehning.

Since 2012, I have been focused on recording and mixing for clients, as a freelance engineer. My private studio, Courtesy Tone, opened in 2019.

As the COVID-19 pandemic rages on - I am pivoting as a studio owner. I want to focus on providing custom acoustic drum tracks for clients around the world. Though I do have the capacity to hold in-person tracking and mixing sessions here at Courtesy Tone, I feel it would be safer and more productive to work more remotely.

Working with me, you will find that professional and expedient communication is my top priority. Keeping the dialogue open and transparent throughout the process is the key to a winning final product.

My studio has the ability to track live drums in a large, open room, with high ceilings and wood floors. I also have the ability to record and re-amp in other rooms of various sizes.

Working on a podcast and need help making it sound good? I can do that!
