Want to take your song to the next level? Let's put it this way... once you've spent hours writing, recording, and obsessing over your song, eventually there comes a point when it’s time to mix your song into a masterpiece! I'll give your music what it needs to thrive and stand out in a saturated music industry.
I'm a mixing engineer specializing in Rock and Alternative artists or bands. However, I also work with softer/more Acoustic Singer/Songwriter solo artists.
Based on your vision and preferred musical niche, I take the individual tracks of your song, achieve characteristics such as: depth, width, balance, punch, and most importantly, get the vocals to cut throughout the entire song without becoming harsh! We'll work together to achieve that interesting and addictive vocal sound your audience craves.
Production/Arrangement Consulting
Sometimes a song can benefit from adjusting the tempo, adding and removing instruments, adding percussion or FX, and optimizing the structure of the song. I'd love to provide you feedback!
(It is important to note, there will be no surprises! During the process, we will have on going discussions about any necessary changes).
I’ve worked with bands who have mixed their own music semi-professionally or have hired an engineer with a nice fancy studio and a nice list of gear, only to be disappointed with the final product. I want you to know, mixing is an easy thing to mess up.
You are about to put your music in the hands of someone who specializes in mixing. This is all I do. I simply want to make your music sound the best it possibly can!

Anthony’s the real deal, simply put. Not only did he go above and beyond - he went the extra mile and than some. Anthony turned my muddy, rough track into liquid gold and I couldn’t happier. Before we started the project, he took time to call and allowed me the opportunity to discuss everything from inspiration, reasoning behind the track, what we both envisioned for the end result, etc. He was a quick to reply to every msg! I’m forever grateful and recommend Anthony’s services to anyone.

Anthony is a fantastic producer to work with. He provides a great service, and for a very affordable price compared with other producers I've experienced in the past. His communication skills and work-ethic are next to none, always going the extra mile to ensure that you get the final product you desire. I couldn't recommend Music First Production enough, and will definitely be returning to Anthony when in need of mixing and mastering my music again in the future.
I recently worked with Anthony mastering a single that he produced, recorded, and mixed and his work is top-tier. I hear a lot of music from a lot of different producers/engineers and Anthony's work is exceptional - the recordings were clean, the production was dense without being crowded, and the mix was balance and full. If you're an artist looking for a fantastic producer, look no further than Anthony at Music First!
I've worked with Anthony on a number of productions so far. He excels as both a mixer and producer, delivers thoughtful notes and always puts his clients and their songs first. Communication with Anthony has always been professional and effortless. If you want a great sounding tune, and enjoy the experience - look no further!
Working with Anthony has been only THE BEST!! The first mix he sent of our track sounded excellent. He intuitively picked up on many of our influences and we only had to make minor adjustments from there. His work and replies are always in great timing and his mixes are high quality. I would recommend him to any band! I can't wait to work on more of my songs with him.
My name is Joe from "Calder the Band". Speaking from first-hand experience, Anthony remixed our song "Cope" incredibly. Within the first mix, me and my bandmates were stunned at how much better the remix sounded than the original: the bass was so much more pronounced, the vocals were beautifully compressed, and the modified song structure was super smooth. Along with the music, his communication was top notch. He met every deadline for mixes and mastering with punctuality and professionalism. We were truly blessed to work with Anthony. Cannot recommend him enough. Honestly.
Anthony is a pleasure to work with. The fact that he is attentive, punctual, and easy-going makes for a comfortable collaborative music environment. He understands the end goal and works with you closely to achieve it. In the mixing phase, Anthony is able to stay true to the the song, and is a master at creating space and making each instrument heard the way it is intended.
Interview with Anthony Music First Production
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have an industry standard Pro Tools system setup with professional plugins such as: Waves, Soundtoys, Slate Digital, Fab Filter and much more. If an instrument calls for some analog warmth/colour, I'll run it through some outboard gear. I'm a big fan of Universal Audio and Black Lion Audio equipment!.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mixing! This is my specialty. I work closely with my clients to bring out certain elements in the arrangement of their song and allow it to translate as best as it possible can to their audience.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: There's a time and place for both! Analog offers some warmth and colour, while digital tends to be clean and accurate. Analog plugin emulations are very powerful and incredibly close to the equivalent piece of gear. At the end of the day, your audience won't know the difference between the two, so no need to panic haha. It's up to the engineer to understand what each of these tools can accomplish for your music.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I'm a mixing engineer however, I got into this profession through the love of music and playing the drums. So before even mixing starts, I'll listen to the demo or recorded tracks and discover the heart of the song. Most of the time its the vocals, and other times its the overall energy and impact of all the instruments. This is an important step in the process which allows me to deliver the most authentic and emotional mix possible to my client.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Besides my audio skill set, I have worked in a retail drum shop for 5+ years, where I developed my communication skills. I tend to ask qualifying questions until I know exactly where my artist is at and what they expect their music to sound like. This is a crucial step to the process because I feel once some boundaries are set, I am able to tap in to what is most important in the mix and ultimately enhance the emotion in their song.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: You'll be blown away after hearing the first mix! During the process, I leave an open line of communication for my clients to reach out if they have questions or are curious where I'm at with their mix.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock, Alternative, and Acoustic Singer/Songwriter
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Mixing puts me into a flow state and helping artists with their music, is the most satisfying part of my job.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started out recording and mixing my own band. Then I graduated from an audio engineering school called Metalworks Institute in Ontario, Canada, where I professionally developed my audio skills. I've been mixing for 8 years.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Who are your biggest influences? How and where do you record your music?
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I typically like choruses that hit a peak melodically. This really elevates the track and hooks me into the song emotionally.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Rick Rubin, Brendan O'Brien, Eric Valentine, Jacquire King
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Before I begin mixing any song, I must learn who my client is influenced by. This gives me an idea of the tonal qualities they're used to and perhaps expecting to hear in their own music. From here, I can develop a mix that includes qualities of their influences and is authentic to them.
