Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: I’m proud of my work with Groove at Home, where I record, produce and arrange live funk/soul sessions. These projects pushed my sound, improved my recording workflow, and connected me with thousands of musicians worldwide.

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: I’m recording new remote sessions, producing content for my collective Groove at Home, and tracking drums for upcoming funk/soul collaborations.

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: Both. Drums are fully acoustic and warm; digital gives me flexibility, recall and pristine Neve-style preamps through Apollo Unison.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: To deliver drums that feel great, sound professional, and serve the song—with fast communication and a smooth, stress-free process.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: Turning someone’s idea into a living, breathing performance. I love bringing energy and personality to a track.

Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: Most ask if I can match a specific sound or style. My answer: Absolutely, just send me your references and I’ll recreate that vibe faithfully.

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: That recording drums is just “playing the part.” In reality, sound design, tuning, mic placement, and interpretation matter as much as performance.

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: I ask for references, BPM, the role drums should play in the arrangement, and what emotion or energy they want the song to convey.

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: Choose someone who listens carefully to your references and communicates clearly. Good drum tracks start from understanding your vision.

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: HH + kick + snare, I'm ok.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I’ve been a professional drummer for 20 years, working live, in studios and—over the last 5 years—on almost 1,000 remote drum sessions for artists worldwide.

A: Warm, tight, groove-focused and musical. Modern sound with vintage soul.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: Vulfpeck or Snarky Puppy, artists who value groove, precision and authenticity. Their sound aligns perfectly with my approach to drums.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: Leave space. Great arrangements breathe. Often the best drum part is the one with intention, not the one with the most notes.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: Funk, Soul, Pop, R&B, Jazz, Blues, Indie and Singer-Songwriter projects. Anything that needs groove, warmth and a human feel.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: Precision, consistency and musical sensitivity. I lock into the pocket quickly and deliver drum parts that feel natural and confident.

A: I review the client’s song and references, shape a custom drum sound, record multiple takes, choose the best performance, and deliver clean, phase-coherent stems. Fast communication and revisions are always included.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: A dedicated drum studio designed for warm, controlled acoustic recordings. I use a Gretsch Brooklyn, several pro snares, Meinl cymbals, high-end mics (AKG, Lauten, Shure, sE, Lewitt, ribbons) and Apollo + Neve Unison preamps.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: I record professional live drum tracks tailored to the song’s vibe, warm, modern, and groove-focused. Most clients hire me for full multitrack drum sessions with up to 15 stems.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: Drummers like Nate Smith, Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Jordan, Steve Gadd, Larnell Lewis and Benny Greb inspire my feel and tone. On the production side, I’m influenced by Michael League, Cory Wong, Vulfpeck and modern funk/soul aesthetics.
