Interview with P.G.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Though there is a lot of work to due to staying relevant, I am happy that people have come to me to ask me to do work for them because I have faced being shunned out in the past due to the lack of equipment etc but now I am more & more confident in my music production.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am just working more & more on Production & building my beat library.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I've only just known about SoundBetter through SpotifyForArtists but I might recommend this to people I know.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital because it's easier to load everything on computer when you need to get work done. Analog is still useful, lessons about the analog world should be taught & shown to the younger generation for history & educational reasons.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is you won't feel disappointed.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: When you complete the tracks & the music just sounds amazing.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: They commonly ask how much a beat is & I just reply by telling them how much it is.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Before it was about having lack of music skills & being unable to mix & master but now I've gotten stronger within that due to going to college or just simply taking time to learn.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask them if they are happy with the instrumental or beats that they hear
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Always be specific about the style of beat(s) you would like, Hip-Hop for example has evolved into sub-genres so it's best to let me know what style of music you're looking for, reference tracks also help as well.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop with all my software on it, Monitor Speakers, Audio Interface, Keyboard & Microphone (since I'll have a T-Shirt on I'll use it as a Pop Shield Lol)
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My career path is Music, I tried running away from it & it keeps chasing me. I've been doing music for slightly over 20 years (since I was a toddler).
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is honestly various, I don't have a name for my style but when I do I'll let you know.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I want to say but I also don't want to say who, I just know it has to be someone who loves music & helps keep the work coming in. I'd say I'd want to work with someone that has a mind for business & musical relationships, you could be the best artist in the world but have bad traces in behaviour. It's all about the behaviour, relationship & the work.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Organise your tracks, keep everything in timing, learn music theory as much as possible & learn how to Mix & Master your beats but stay happy & focused at the same time.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on Rap & R&B music
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Production then Drums
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring power & energy to a song
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I mainly work between 1pm to 9pm GMT Time
