Gabe Treiyer is a world renowned guitar player, session musician, and multi- instrumentalist.
Currently he’s touring with Fran Cosmo (the legendary lead singer from the multi-platinum band Boston), and he’s also the Music Director for “Icons of Rock”.

Interview with Gabe Treiyer

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: My solo album on which a i had legends like Steve Hackett from Genesis, Jakko Jakszyk from King Crimson or Steve Rothery from Marillion playing my music. And being the band director for the "Icons of Rock" tour with the singers from Quiet Riot, Foreigner, The Romantics, Santana, Boston.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: My next solo album.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Digital because is more consistent

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: You'll get my 100% on the recording. And the client's satisfaction should be at the same level.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: Having to leave my footprint in a certain piece of music.

  11. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  12. A: I've been labeled as just a shredder, or just a Pop/Rock guy. Depending the perspective from the people that knows me for playing for a certain artist. I have played and wrote a lot of different styles

  13. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  14. A: What they're looking for, what type of sound or tone they have in mind and which artist (if any) they have as reference for the track.

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: Check the style first and then if feel comfortable with it, move forward.

  17. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  18. A: My PRS Modern Eagle V, My Gibson Les Paul 60's standard, My bass, my Quad Cortx pedalboard and a computer.

  19. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  20. A: I play guitar since i was 10. I've been a full time professional touring and studio musician for 25 years.

  21. Q: How would you describe your style?

  22. A: A blend of high energy playing and delicate parts when needed.

  23. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  24. A: Bryan Adams, Tears for Fears, Foreigner, Sammy Hagar, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley. All these artists have a greeat blend of powerful & clean tones and top tier production.

  25. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  26. A: Always try to serve the song first. Do your best, but the song always comes firts.

  27. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  28. A: Rock, Pop, Country, Hard Rock, Prog Rock.

  29. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  30. A: Coming with ideas that really fit the song

  31. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  32. A: I listen the song and according the client's needs, i'm trying to translate that into the music.

  33. Q: What's your typical work process?

  34. A: Listenig the song or musical piece, and then trying different ideas until i get the two or three i like. Then a "Back & Forth" process starts with the client.

  35. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  36. A: Pro Tools, Motu interface, JBL monitors, Steven Slate headphones system.

  37. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  38. A: David Bowie, Thriller, Boston, Toto.

  39. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  40. A: Guitarist, Band Director.
