Interview with SLMSONGS
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am currently very proud of my latest project called "Bi Bi" because I truly love the way the song sounds and feels. It is very sensual, honest, and has such chill vibes to it. I also love that we did a music video to go with it. I offered creative direction and set planning with the visual ambiance/ set design which I love to do as well. The song is rooted in being proud open and honest about my place in the LGBTQIA community. Specifically the "B" as sometimes there is not a lot of representation for us but we are out here thriving, existing, and making hits.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Right now, I’m working on a song called 444. The concept centers on those who may be searching for ‘the one’ but haven’t found that singular love. Instead, the song invites listeners to recognize the many other forms of love and fulfillment available in life—love that can be just as meaningful, if not more. It carries a spiritual tone, rooted in numerology and the significance of 444. When you see this number, it’s a reminder that you are deeply loved by forces and elements in this world—sometimes in ways you might never expect, or perhaps in ways you’ve already felt from a spiritual sense.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise to my clients is that while I may have a set number of revisions, you will never walk away not completely happy and satisfied with your final project. We will keep working until we get it right by you. Staying true to your vision and desire.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I like that I get to be myself which is a full blown creative artist both lyricist and vocalist. I love the process in making a song from scratch and watching how it builds through the layers, bringing us to the final result which is the most exciting for me.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Fortunately, I haven’t come across many misconceptions in this online space. My services are presented clearly, so most people understand what I offer. Occasionally, someone may assume that I’m performing live, which is only true in certain cases. For the most part, my work focuses on writing and recording—both for myself and for other artists.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I don't know of anyone on Sound Better to recommend at this time.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I prefer digital because we’re in a new era where we can make the sound as rich and bright as we need while keeping full creative control. It’s modern, versatile, and efficient but I also like blending in a touch of analog warmth to give it that grounded, retro feel.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: I don’t usually have one specific theme or set of questions from my customers. As we work together, questions naturally come up, and I’m always happy to answer them, tailoring my responses to the unique needs of each individual project
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: When I'm working with clients, I start by asking key questions to fully understand their vision. For example, I often begin with: What’s the overall vision or emotion you want the song or project to convey? I'll also ask, Are lyrics provided, or would you like me to write or co-write them?. These kinds of questions help me navigate the creative process smoothly and ensure I deliver a final product that meets or exceeds the expectations of those who’ve trusted me with their project.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: If you're considering working with me, my advice is: trust your gut and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions. I'm an open book and happy to clarify anything you're unsure about. While I may be new to this platform, I bring dedication, creativity, and clear communication to every project. My goal is to make sure you feel confident, excited, and supported throughout the entire process
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Microphone, amp, computer, tri pod, and headphones.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Music has always been my career path, I have another passion which is the healing arts through yoga and psychology. I am a honors graduate of Psychology- Behavioral Sciences. I have been doing music professionally since 2012.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is "I'm every women" I can be anything I want or need to be when it comes to what I aim to channel artistically, but on a regular day I am a chill Cali girl who loves nature/ earth vibes so I'd say boho- rocker.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would like a work with MGK because, I really admire is work as far as his versatility how he as able to target any genre of music. It's very impressive and as a vocalist I could see myself being a feature for one of his songs. We are also from the same town born and raised from Cleveland Ohio.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: One tip would be, As a vocalist, to record when your mood is up, and when you're in good health. As that will be translated into the track. As well as making sure your recording environment is in tact and properly set up for a quality recording.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: In my history I usually work in the pop/rock-R&B genre when performing vocals, and songwriting.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: One of my strongest skills is clear communication and self-awareness, which allows me to ask the right questions and stay aligned with the vision of each project. I'm highly expressive and have a natural talent for storytelling and connecting with others—bringing creative concepts, vivid imagery, and emotionally resonant lyrics to life and creating a vibe/ getting the message across.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a strong sense of humanity to every track I work on, with a unique ability to transmute the emotional frequency and storyline into an authentic vocal performance. My specialty lies in crafting distinctive lyrical flows and melodic structures that create an immersive listening experience. Whether you're looking for a laid-back, sultry lo-fi vibe or something with raw emotion and attitude across other genres, I deliver vocals that are both versatile and deeply felt.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: When I receive an instrumental, I begin by immersing myself in the track and freestyling to explore melodies and lyrical ideas. My intuitive approach allows me to channel the right mood and message for each project. From there, I develop a structured outline unique to the song and begin laying down vocals based on that arrangement. I take my vocal preparation seriously—grounding myself, warming up thoroughly, and spending time in the right headspace before each session. I also record multiple takes to refine the delivery and capture the precise emotion, tone, and styling the song calls for, as that is most important to my process.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My setup is simple and beginner-friendly, yet powerful enough to bring my creative vision to life. I work with a Focusrite Scarlett Solo (2nd Gen) audio interface, Audio-Technica ATH-M50xWH headphones, and a Scarlett studio microphone paired with an isolation shield. This streamlined home studio setup has allowed me to record high-quality vocals and produce the dream projects I’ve envisioned.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I have a deep and versatile appreciation for a wide range of musical genres that fuel my creativity and artistic expression. I'm inspired by the raw energy of gothic alternative metal and punk rock, with bands like Evanescence, Paramore, and Deftones holding a special place in my heart. At the same time, I’m equally drawn to the vocal power and emotional depth of pop, R&B, and soul artists such as Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, Jhené Aiko, Sade, and Lady Gaga. This diverse blend of influences shapes my unique sound and allows me to move fluidly across genres in both performance and songwriting.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: As a vocalist and songwriter, the most common type of work I do for clients involves providing original topline melodies, lyrics, and studio vocals for music producers and collaborative projects. I’m often hired to bring emotion, texture, and a distinct soulful quality to tracks across genres like R&B, pop, and alternative. My clients value my ability to deliver expressive vocal recordings—often remotely—as well as my skill in vocal arrangement and harmonies to elevate the final production.
