Dan Trilk delivers period! Highly recommend for guitar work. Able to keep deadlines, quick turnaround and his tracks were always matched up perfectly to my DAW timeline. Communication is key for me. Listening to what is being asked for and working through a few descriptions and guidelines, Dan's guitar performances worked perfectly to give my song exactly what it needed. Very pleasurable experience!

Dan is SUCH a fun producer to work with!! He took the vision of a song I had written with my co-writer and blasted it into a new realm! It sounded bigger and better than I had envisioned! He is a great listener and communicator, and really knows how to dial in the right sounds and mix it so that everything is sitting in the right place in the track. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a producer that can make a track big and bold and compete in the modern marketplace today! I am SO thrilled with my song and it's thanks to Dan!! Can't wait to work together many more times!! Thanks Dan!

Dan is the MAN. He took a track I wrote and brought it completely to life with his production. I literally was listening to it on a loop for an hour the other day because it was just so damn FUN to listen to. Dan will make your song better than you thought it could be. Can't wait to work with him again!!

    Dan is the real deal.
One of those people that does EVERYTHING well. He has produced tracks for me and played guitar/bass on tracks - turnover time is quick and he is a really lovely guy, too.
Will absolutely be working with him again!

Dan is a good man with great skills.
Dan's musicianship, songwriting and production skills are superb. We have written 4 songs together and he has done all instruments, vocals and productions. The songs have all been accepted into the sync agency world.
Dan does what he says he will do when he says he will do it. He's easy to work with, open to ideas and he gets what you mean.
I enjoy our conversations and collaborations.

Dan is AWESOME! I've worked on two songs (co-wrote and sang) with him and am excited to work on more! He's professional, crazy talented, easy to work with, and fun! He's a top notch guitarist and vocalist. He's got an incredible ear for production and the skills to match! I highly recommend Dan!

Dan recorded and engineered two projects for me, These were very stripped down with just vocals and guitar or piano, but the quality has left some of my professional songwriter friends in awe of his precision and detail. His musical intuition also comes from his great skill as an instrumentalist as well as a songwriter. I would recommend Dan for any project!

Interview with Dan Trilk

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: The song "Put Your Money On Me" which I co-wrote, produced, and sang has been used in the Netflix show Ultimatum and a Parkview Medical commercial.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I have a latin pop song that is in the infancy stage. Also starting working on a really cool Americana instrumental album with sparse, soulful vocals. Other than that I am writing and recording for film and television as much as I can.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: I promise to do my best to deliver a track you are 100% happy with and to have a good time doing it!

  7. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  8. A: If you're going to send me tracks make sure they are recorded so the highest point is no louder than -10db. And turn the fan, airconditioning off ;-)

  9. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  10. A: I decided to be a musician at age 12 when I was in my first band. I have an associate's degree in music composition. At age 20 I took a Greyhound from Iowa to California where I played in numerous original and cover bands for 14 years. One signed to Sony, one to a small Indy. For the last 14 years I've been making my living teaching private music lessons, playing in a few original bands and playing solo acoustic shows. The last 2 1/2 years I have been immersed in production, mostly for film and TV. I have been producing my own stuff all my life but am just loving doing it for others now too. Enter SoundBetter!

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: Rock, Americana, and Pop

  13. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  14. A: Guitar and bass guitar. I love mellow acoustic guitar and shredding on a rock tune. I also love the funk and coming up with prominent bass lines.

  15. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  16. A: An organic element and feel mixed with vibes and freshness.

  17. Q: What's your typical work process?

  18. A: I like to start with a Zoom meeting and get to know my client and make sure we're on the same page. Then build out a simple version of the song and make sure we are headed in the right direction. From there I'll keep a dialog open regarding progress. I want you to be 100% happy with your track so will work with you to get it there.

  19. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  20. A: I am spending most of my time producing rock and pop, often with the idea of using them in film and television. I usually build the songs from the ground up but sometimes work with tracks my clients provide.

  21. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  22. A: YES! Otabek Salamov is a WIZARD when it comes to production and songwriting. He produced an EP for my Ol' Big Bear project and it was so great working with him.

  23. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  24. A: I love the sound of analog but the ease of digital is hard to deny. A healthy balance is good.

  25. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  26. A: I love that I am surrounded by music and that I am able to help others with their musical goals.

  27. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  28. A: What are your references? What is your deadline? Are you open to suggestions?

  29. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  30. A: Hmmmm. Definitely my Martin. Is anyone there to jam with? Haha. My nylon string guitar, djembe, harmonica and didgeridoo.

  31. Q: How would you describe your style?

  32. A: Raw, real, spontaneous, feels.

  33. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  34. A: Beck. I just love his whole aesthetic and was such a fan in the 90's.

  35. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  36. A: I'm finding music production to be like any other art. The song is already there, you just need to carve away at it until it presents itself.

  37. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  38. A: I'm in my basement. Lighting is everything. I have some cool lamps. Mac Book Pro, Logic Pro X, Universal Audio 710 Twin Finity mic pre, Avantone Pro CV-12 mic

  39. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  40. A: I listen to everything and absorb it all in one way or another.
