Hi! I am a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer. I have 30 years of writing and recording experience encompassing many genres. My music has been featured in the movie The Waitress and many TV shows including Shameless.
I would love to help bring your music to the next level. I've been writing and recording for years but recently fell in love with producing professionally. The guitar is my first love but I have been playing and teaching drums, keys, and bass full time for 13 years. My mission is to serve the song and help to give it the vibe you're looking for. I can also help with songwriting and lyrics. Thanks for stopping by!
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Dan Trilk delivers period! Highly recommend for guitar work. Able to keep deadlines, quick turnaround and his tracks were always matched up perfectly to my DAW timeline. Communication is key for me. Listening to what is being asked for and working through a few descriptions and guidelines, Dan's guitar performances worked perfectly to give my song exactly what it needed. Very pleasurable experience!
Dan is SUCH a fun producer to work with!! He took the vision of a song I had written with my co-writer and blasted it into a new realm! It sounded bigger and better than I had envisioned! He is a great listener and communicator, and really knows how to dial in the right sounds and mix it so that everything is sitting in the right place in the track. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a producer that can make a track big and bold and compete in the modern marketplace today! I am SO thrilled with my song and it's thanks to Dan!! Can't wait to work together many more times!! Thanks Dan!
Dan is the MAN. He took a track I wrote and brought it completely to life with his production. I literally was listening to it on a loop for an hour the other day because it was just so damn FUN to listen to. Dan will make your song better than you thought it could be. Can't wait to work with him again!!
Dan is the real deal.
One of those people that does EVERYTHING well. He has produced tracks for me and played guitar/bass on tracks - turnover time is quick and he is a really lovely guy, too.
Will absolutely be working with him again!
Dan is a good man with great skills.
Dan's musicianship, songwriting and production skills are superb. We have written 4 songs together and he has done all instruments, vocals and productions. The songs have all been accepted into the sync agency world.
Dan does what he says he will do when he says he will do it. He's easy to work with, open to ideas and he gets what you mean.
I enjoy our conversations and collaborations.
Dan is AWESOME! I've worked on two songs (co-wrote and sang) with him and am excited to work on more! He's professional, crazy talented, easy to work with, and fun! He's a top notch guitarist and vocalist. He's got an incredible ear for production and the skills to match! I highly recommend Dan!
Dan recorded and engineered two projects for me, These were very stripped down with just vocals and guitar or piano, but the quality has left some of my professional songwriter friends in awe of his precision and detail. His musical intuition also comes from his great skill as an instrumentalist as well as a songwriter. I would recommend Dan for any project!
Interview with Dan Trilk
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: That would have to be a song I just wrote and produced call VIVIDDD. It's a total pop song that I wrote with female voice in mind. I found the perfect singer and I am about done mixing it. I am stoked on this for two reasons. Pop is a little out of my wheelhouse and I enjoyed the challenge. Also I am finally feeling like I can mix and master. I wouldn't do it professionally yet but hope to be soon!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I will be releasing my Ol' Big Bear EP "Stronger Still" sometime soon. Other than that I am writing and recording for film and television as much as I can.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: YES! Otabek Salamov is a WIZARD when it comes to production and songwriting. He produced an EP for my Ol' Big Bear project and it was so great working with him.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I love the sound of analog but the ease of digital is hard to deny. A healthy balance is good.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to do my best to deliver something that inspires you with a genuine smile on my face :-)
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love that I am surrounded by music and that I am able to help others with their musical goals.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What are your references? What is your deadline? Are you open to suggestions?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: If you're going to send me tracks make sure you know how to consolidate your tracks so they all start at zero. It can be very time consuming lining up tracks.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Hmmmm. Definitely my Martin. Is anyone there to jam with? Haha. My nylon string guitar, djembe, harmonica and didgeridoo.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I decided to be a musician at age 12 when I was in my first band. I have an associates degree in music composition. I played in bands and waited tables through my 20's and half my 30's. The last 12 years I've been making my living teaching private music lessons, playing in a few original bands and playing solo acoustic shows. I have recently decided to fade into writing and recording for a living. Enter SoundBetter!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Raw, real, spontaneous, feels.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Beck. I just love his whole aesthetic and was such a fan in the 90's.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I'm finding music production to be like any other art. The song is already there, you just need to carve away at it until it presents itself.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Lately it's been rock but I spent the last several years in more of an acoustic / americana world. Just starting to really dig pop production as well.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Letting the muse take over.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I like to think I can bring some charisma and uniqueness to a song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I used to write when I felt like it. Now I'm more intentional and write more often. I try not to be too preciscios with parts and performances and try to do what's best for the song.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I'm in my basement. Lighting is everything. I have some cool lamps. Mac Book Pro, Logic Pro X, Universal Audio 710 Twin Finity mic pre, Avantone Pro CV-12 mic
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I listen to everything and absorb it all in one way or another.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I have been most busy recently with producing entire tracks. Mostly with the idea of using them in film and television.
