Interview with Dylan Goilo
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been doing for about 8 years now, I started out rapping and then I took some courses and expanded my musical knowledge.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital I think it's way easier and you get a more HD sound in my opinion.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That I will do everything until they are satisfied with the results.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: That it's about music, I love listening to music and new music styles, so every time I get a new client it's something new and I enjoy that.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Artists expect me to be a demigod when it comes to mixing, I can do most things but I can't turn you into Drake or Post Malone if you can't sing.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Expect a more RnB/Trap type of sound for most mixes unless it's acoustic or latin music
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Generator, Laptop, Mic, Headphones & interface
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Justin bieber or Post Malone I think they both have very nice musical qualities which I think I can mix perfectly
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always deduct things from your vocals that you don't like before adding anything
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip Hop, Trap, Dancehall, Afrobeat & RnB
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Mixing & Mastering
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Quality and musical ideas
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Interface: Focusrite Scarlett SOLO Mic: AKG P120 Headphones: Audio Technica ATH-m50x Speakers: Samson studio GT Laptop: Macbook DAW: FL Studio 20
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Drake, OVO 40, Jack $hirak, Bob Marley, Nina Simone, Future, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, Juice Wrld, XXXtentacion, Justin bieber
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mostly record, mix & master for my clients, sometimes they come with a few tasks that are harder for example extreme vocal tuning, and post production mixing.
