Interview with Zachary Larson Guitarist
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: My first album "Dawn Till Dusk" for flute and guitar. I was the guitarist. It was a project where we called all of the shots, and brought in our friends to provide album artwork and help with the audio. It was an incredible experience!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I only play nylon strings! Although classical is my specialty, I am always working on electric and acoustic guitar projects.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Frequent communication and clear responses are something I always strive for, and greatly appreciate it when a provider does the same
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have always been a musician, playing wind instruments and piano growing up, and then moving on to guitar when I was 13 (about 16 years ago!). I auditioned and completed 2 degrees in guitar performance and have since toured the world playing classical, broadway, and sideman-style gigs.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: The Cuban-born classical guitarist Ricardo Iznaola. He is a true example of excellence in everything he does, and he does everything in the biz.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Arranging and recording a client's piece of music to be played on classical/nylon guitars. I am also frequently asked to provide Spanish sounding solos and lead guitar to existing tracks.
