Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Thom Yorke because I love his songwriting and voice.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Indie, Dream-Pop, Lo-Fi, Metal, Alternative Rock, Overcast, Experimental, Pop
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: James Blake, Rick Rubin, Dr. Dre, Brian Wilson, Jack White, Elliott Smith, Radiohead, Tyler The Creator, Marilyn Manson, Depeche Mode, The Cure, My Chemical Romance, Cage the Elephant, Gorillaz
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Songwriting, acoustic/classical/electric guitar melodies, mixing
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Johnny Goth - "Let Them In" (Album). I created this album completely by myself down to the artwork and final masters. It felt like fond farewell to some of my old production techniques mixed in with new capabilities. It is also very close to me lyrically.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is my ability to create or find a melody.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: The next 'Johnny Goth' Album
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: We'll make it sound fire
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: From the outside looking in at most of my previous work people may think that I only make or enjoy dark music, but I truly love all genres
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What other artists or songs inspire the track (whatever it may be that we are working on), or what do you want it to sound like?
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Macbook Pro, SR80 E Headphones, Acoustic Guitar, Shure SM7B (So I can capture clean vox on this island), and an mini Akai mdi controller
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have a background of about 8 years in film, while I was working on music alongside this I eventually stuck to music full time so I have been producing for about 5 years now. Having that background in film lends a huge hand into the way I approach songwriting, meaning I like to think of a song like a movie in terms of the emotion throughout :)
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Overcast.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Make the sounds you want to listen to
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I like to bring the edge to any track I work on, wether it be lyrically or sonically >:)
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Just keep tweaking until it feels right and you can't imagine it any other way
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio is equipped with what I feel are the essentials I have a few high-end microphones for recording vocals, a powerful Interface for those clean guitar takes, and a variety of trusted plugins for most every situation. I also have very neutral studio monitors + headphones for playback purposes.
