Remote Mixing & Mastering

Aaron Gagnon on SoundBetter

Do you have something recorded but are not sure how bring it to the next level? Struggling with tracks, timing, or sound quality? My services are sure to breathe life into your production. With 20 years of professional audio production experience, I mix and master remotely from my home studio; your finished product will impress anyone who hears it.

I am a Recording Arts graduate, having studied at Full Sail University in Florida. I am a professional audio engineer with over a decade of experience working in professional studio environments, including the reputable Bennett Studios of Englewood, NJ. Beyond my professional experience, I have been an avid musician all my life.

I work with Pro Tools software, an array of plug-ins, and high-quality equipment. My specialties include editing, timing and pitch correction, multi-track mixing, and third-party mastering. I have worked with bands, musicians, and professionals of all genres and backgrounds, from renowned rap artists to local grunge bands. I've also worked with professionals who provide prompt and voice services.

In the modern era of recording, everyone has a computer, a microphone, and an idea. The problem is the result is rarely a polished, professional sound. Looking to get signed to a label? Need your audiobook cleaned up before you submit it? Want to stand out even more on your website or the streaming service you use? You need to have a fantastic sound, start to finish. Thats where I come in.

Inquire accordingly and your finished product will have the "studio magic" it craves and the professional quality you can hear.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Interview with Aaron Gagnon

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: Whatever is sent to me will sound much, much better when it's sent back to you.

  3. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  4. A: That producing music and music production are the same.

  5. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  6. A: How would you describe your sound/genre? Is there an artist or song you want your mix to resemble?

  7. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  8. A: Communicate what you are looking for. The more the audio engineer knows about your project, the better.

  9. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  10. A: A Martin guitar, Neumann U87 microphone, killer interface with Pro Tools, some sick monitors, and a really comfortable chair.

  11. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  12. A: Good gain staging makes all the difference...and backup often.

  13. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  14. A: Alternative or Hip-Hop.

  15. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  16. A: Striking a balance between both editing and mixing.

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: Timing, mixing, clarity, depth, balance, volume, overall sound quality.

  19. Q: What's your typical work process?

  20. A: First, I like to get a solid idea of what my client is looking for before I get started, to make sure there are clear expectations between us. When I receive the files, I like to make sure everything is there, that everything works. Depending on the project, I edit/mix/master accordingly and return the finished product in a timely manner, usually a week or less. I like to follow up with the client after, make sure they are happy with it. At this point, any minor revisions are complimentary.

  21. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  22. A: I use Pro Tools as my DAW with a wide array of plugins (including Waves and a variety of software modules). Playback includes KRK monitors, Sony headphones. I also use a mix surface with moving programmable automation and midi sequencing.

  23. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  24. A: I'm inspired by legends like Phil Ramone and Chris Lord-Alge but the potential of simple records transforming into great sounding songs has probably inspired me more.

  25. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  26. A: Typically, I am editing, mixing, and mastering the tracks my clients send over from their recordings.
