Electric Emma is ready to shock you, but in the best way. I have a vocal prowess that has the power of Chaka Khan but the fluidity of Erykah Badu. I have a brain that works at lightning speeds with lyrics and melodies flowing out of me effortlessly and efficiently.
At 23, I have been writing and playing music since I was 12 years old. I moved to Nashville when I was 18 to fully pursue music, graduating from Belmont University with a degree in songwriting in May of 2019.
Since coming to Nashville, I have primarily focused on recording and playing out with my soul/funk band, Emma Ohm and the Resistors. However, as an expert collaborator, I have played guitar for soulstress Imari Sensei, gospel bass for Nehemiah Missionary Baptist Church, and co-written with acclaimed songwriter Patrick McManus.
Hailing from the 'burbs of Chicago, I was wildly active at the Grammy-award winning York Community High School. I was the main guitarist in the jazz band, a member of the Vida vocal group, and an A+ student in Music Theory.
Thanks to my years of musical training and involvement, I am able to adapt quickly. While my greatest strength lies in writing lyrics, melodies, toplining and BGVs, I am able to produce a banging demo, as well as a clean, precise vocal comp.
As far as lyrics go, Electric Emma is lightning fast with her flow. Thanks to regular attendance at jams/cyphers in Nashville (Rudy's Jazz Room, Phat Bites, Flamingo Cocktail Club), I have no problem crafting a clever, structured and catchy song on the spot.
