Interview with One Island Productions

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: A Reggae single in the vein of UB40!

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Both. They both shine in different ways.

  5. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  6. A: use Parallel multi band compression on the 2bus.

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: Reggae, Hip Hip, RnB, Rock, Pop

  9. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  10. A: My Ear, and my ability to listen for what a mix is asking for - and then knowing how to implement what I am hearing.

  11. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  12. A: Mix Clarity, Separation of instruments, a wide stereo image, balance, and a pro sounding mix. I can give the mix that huge reggae bass sound, make the drums pop, and the vocals clear. I can also keep in rootsy and subtle. Give me a reference track of the vibe you are going for and I can make it happen.

  13. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  14. A: It is a hybrid analog/in the box setup. I have all of the best industry-standard plugins, as well as a few select pieces of analog gear to impart the "analog mojo" that so many people crave in their mixes.

  15. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  16. A: Stick Figure, Johnny Cosmic, Slightly Stoopid, Alborosie, Chronixx, Protoje, ect.

  17. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  18. A: Mixing/Mastering, production and Bass guitar Tracking. Also pro female vocals and backup vocals (wife is a classically trained singer with a masters in vocal performance)
