Session Bassist

Hello! I'm an electric and upright bass player with over two decades of professional experience as a performer, band leader, session player, musical director, and music educator. I've also been a full-time university bass professor for over 8 years as well as toured and recorded all over the world.

I'm an experienced bass player in most contemporary styles ranging from popular styles like rock, pop, soul, R&B, gospel, folk, country, and bluegrass, to more improvisation-related styles like classic jazz to modern acoustic styles and fusion. I'm also adept in a wide variety of Latin American styles like Salsa, Bolero, Cha, Latin Jazz, and Brazilian styles like Samba, Bossa Nova, Baião, etc. Just about anything you might need a bass player for, I can do it and do it right. Stylistic accuracy and authenticity are my specialty.

In my audio samples, I have a basic sampling of a few of the styles and sounds I can do for you. First, on the upright, there's a bluegrass/americana track, a bossa nova, and a classic swinging blues line. On the electric, you'll find a simple pop groove, a funky jazz fusion groove, a heavy rock sound, and a pumping 8th note groove. I can also play arco parts with the bow on double bass, and play solos on either instrument. I pride myself on being able to morph into just about any musical role, so if you're unsure whether or not I can do something, just ask!
