Julian Schweitzer on SoundBetter

Julian Schweitzer is an in-demmand producer and mixing engineer based in Melbourne, Australia. His speciality lies in producing and mixing ear grabbing pop that translates through speakers big and small.

BACKGROUND: As a producer/engineer I have been a freelancer both in NYC and my home city of Melbourne. Coming up I had the opportunity to work with legendary producers Mario McNulty, Fab Dupont, Steve Schram to name a few. After interning at some of the biggest studios both in NYC and Melbourne, I built my own studio in Melbourne ‘Labracadabra studios’.

PAST CLIENTS: Sony Music Australia, Tones & I, Wanderes, Steve Tyssen, Sterling Campbell (David Bowie, B-52s), Devil Electric, Dear Thieves, Nick Oliveri (QOTSA/Kyuss), Garth., Sword & Scale (podcast).

MY MIXING PHLISOPHY: It’s all about the song, finding out what makes the artist unique and then highlight this to create a professional sounding mix whilst honouring the artist’s original vision.

Julian was super professional to work with. We collaborated on a track; he produced the track and I wrote the topline/sang. It was a super simple and really positive experience. He took my suggestions and opinions on board and was a great collaborator!

I'd definitely recommend working with Julian. His background as an artist/musician leads him to a great understanding of what each individual project needs from the artists' perspective.

His eclectic music tastes gives him an advantage in his ability to create unique, professional productions which are both stylistically appropriate, yet stand out creatively to other artists. He's able to take your vision for a project, and take it a step further than what you envisioned, drawing on his many influences to create something that exceeds your expectations.

Jules is a pleasure to work with. His mixes are gritty and artistic with a modern punch, and he always seems to add that tasteful, little something that the song was missing. He won't rest until you are happier with your song than you thought you could be. Looking forward to our next project!

Julian is doing some mixing for us at the moment. I'd heard a lot of his work and was already impressed, but I'm even more impressed working with him. Incredible turn around times with great results. We're definitely looking forward to working with him more in the future.

Julian is one of the hardest working people in the Australian recording industry. He's tireless in his thirst for knowledge and new skill acquisition as an artist, writer and producer which benefits those of us lucky enough to work with him. I have known Jules for over a decade and I'm blown away at how much ground he has been able to cover across genres. We worked recently on a song called "Hold Me Back". JS has developed an instinct for what makes a pop-record tick and was v inspiring to work with. For any artists with a pop focus - call Jules. An incredible talent and humble professional.

Highly recommend Julian's services. My band Creek had a fairly good idea of what we wanted our latest 10-track album to sound like. He got the right takes out of us, and effectively brought it all to life!

Julian is one of the most versatile and talented producer/mixing engineer I've ever worked with. We've collaborated on multiple projects last year and every single time, he's taken my ideas and brought them to a much higher level. He gives great feedback, valuable and constructive criticism and works magic with his mixes. He's also very easy to work with, exudes such a friendly warmth and has an extremely hardworking ethic! If you are considering hiring him for your project, just do it. You'll be much happier for it :) Cheers!

I have worked with Jules on several projects and I’ve seen him grown, adapt and excel exceptionally quickly. His background in songwriting and musicianship compliments his versatile studio skills resulting in not only a polished product but a body of work more reflective of the artist’s vision. Jules is one of the hardest workers I know and is level headed to boot. If you want a fulfilling recording experience I cannot recommend Jules high enough.

Julian approached me at a hip hop gig where we both stood out like sore thumbs. I was looking to change the sounds permeating the Melbourne hip hop underground, and Julian saw that. I immediately admired his professional yet personal touch, and I am pleased to report that carries on to this day. Amidst a sea of unsolicited e-mails and "Bro I can mix your whole EP for fifty bucks just give me the cash now and I'll e-mail you", Julian takes the time to hear out my ideas, propose his own (with experience like his, I started taking notes that I still use), and *collaborate*. Thank you Julez!

Julian was an integral part of a huge project for a true crime podcast I composed music for. His production and mixing was outstanding and helped me bring my ideas to life and it came out exactly how I envisioned it.
His willingness to listen and take in what I was trying to convey with the compositions was greatly appreciated.

I would highly reccomend Julian for your next project.
