Hi! I'm an award-winning producer, audio engineer and multi-instrumentalist with extensive work in rock, metal, film soundtracks, and world music.
I've been active as a music producer since 2004, working in over 100 albums with artists from four different continents, plus writing a number of well-received film soundtracks.
Asides from producing, arranging, mixing and mastering, I am a multi-instrumentalist and frequently perform drums, guitars, bass, vocals, keys, saxophone, violin and other instruments in my productions or session jobs.

Interview with Caio Duarte | Broadband Studio
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital, simply because it's simpler and more affordable - and I strongly believe that all artists should be able to afford professional results, standing in the same league with big budget artists.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being able to work with inspiring artists, becoming friends with talented people from all over the world, and making music I love listening to.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Thinking that quality work is a result of expensive equipment. It absolutely isn't.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I'll ask questions regarding the size and scope of the project, its artistic goals and, depending on its inclinations, I'll ask for references.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I ended up doing this by accident: at first I used to record my music just for fun, but as my skills developed more and more people starting to ask me to produce theirs. Eventually it grew to a point when I was making a living out of it. I have been working professionally as a music producer for almost 20 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: No-frills, surprising, and emotionally resonant.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Any gear, no matter how cheap or unorthodox, can be a powerful tool when used with knowledge. And expensive gear can often be fruitless: no airplane can fly properly without a good pilot, after all.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I have done a lot of modern rock and metal, but I also have a strong affinity for jazz, world music, classical, and electronica.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Technical precision, multi-disciplinarity, and never missing a deadline.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: As someone from a diverse cultural background and very eclectic tastes I tend to bring an experimental approach that can help artists finding new possibilities within their own music - if they're open to that, of course.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It depends if it's in person or a remote work, but for every step of the process my method tends to surprise people by its simplicity and efficiency - especially clients who had bad experiences elsewhere.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I like simple setups, doing my mixing and mastering in the box. In my Brazilian studio I have a pretty complete setup with two pairs of studio monitors and lots of equipment, while in the UK I work with a much smaller setup, renting studios when I need something bigger.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Anyone with a clear creative vision that aren't afraid of thinking outside the box, while striving for technical precision.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Trust your instincts, ignore the critics, and don't stress over the process. Art is meant to be fun, and it shows in the final result.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Production, mixing, mastering and sound designing, occasionally serving as a session musician or doing technical services like reamping. I frequently direct music videos as well.
